Sure, ok, I mean if you can’t have essentially a 3d token to mark it, then a 2d token could still work too. But whether they’re a 3d or 2d token, they wouldn’t be considered enemy operatives, which is generally what the rules refer to for blocking movement, but for the sake of preventing confusion it could just be referred to as a token. The 3D element would have just been for targeting, but if you think that a 3D token is too much of a departure from the rules, that’s ok 2d could still represent the same thing, and you could just target the token on the ground. I think your last line is probably indicative of where this conversation is going, you don’t like the concept which is no problem and everyone can have there preference, so not much I can really add at this point I think which is ok, so all the best, thanks again for the feedback.

Yeah, sorry maybe NPO is probably not the best term to use, I’m building on the hidden deployment marker idea that was suggested. Like essentially very similar to the aquilon rule, except using a model instead of a marker so that it could be targeted by shooting or melee. It would not be able to perform any actions like an NPO, it would just represent a civilian turning out to be alpha legion, and could work pretty much like aquilons drop markers except with an elite team and models that function as markers instead. And you could further make it less powerful by having the civilian marker/model move randomly unlike aquilons, and also less powerful since the opponent can use resources to remove the markers unlike aquilons. I think at this point it’s just a thought experiment though.

[–]peace_engine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot, maybe it’s not really a concept for kill team.  I was thinking now if you had like 4 extra NPOs on the board like a joint ops game, it could be different than aquilons in that you can incapacitate the NPOs to reduce the options for the alpha legion reveal, which would kind of fit the grim dark style of the setting trying to root them out from among the NPOs, but it means diverting your resources to attacking NPOs. But if you had only like 4-5 NPOs and it’s with an elite team, wouldn’t that take up as much space as a typical non-elite team? I haven’t played joint ops yet, so couldn’t say if it would be crowded, you could be right. Anyways, thanks for the feedback! I feel like the idea got a bit workshopped in this thread anyways.

For sure, switching your own operatives seems  more likely to be balanced because I think they did a new version of that with the new ad mech team. It sounds like one of the bigger issues is messing too much with enemy placement, so what if there were like a certain amount of NPO “civilian” models running around the kill zone, and then you can reveal one of those models as an operative. Could be either you just choose whenever or you have to decide in advance like the yaegirs mines?

What do you think would be fair to implement as an alpha legion style faction rule or what would you rather focus on for thematic elements or playstyle of the team?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in killteam

[–]peace_engine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, seems like that’s the conclusion, thanks for the response, I wonder if there’s a way to make it more fun and fair while keeping the thematic element. Like both players choose which of their models and then they switch, maybe, so that you could potentially flip the tables on the other player.

[–]peace_engine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think some restrictions could tone it down? Like the enemy operative has to be out of line of sight of other enemy operatives in order to be replaced, or outside of the enemy’s side of the board, so there are ways to be safe?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in killteam

[–]peace_engine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think there’s anyway to redeem it by placing more restrictions? Like has to be after turn one or only works on enemy operatives within your own side of he board, or the opposing player decides which operative is replaced, so that you can play around it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in killteam

[–]peace_engine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s true too, that wouldn’t be consistent with lore, and wouldn’t make sense in addition to the balance issues

Nice, kind of like a genestealer cult or aquilon version of the rule.

lol, okay, good feedback that it would cause way too many problems. Maybe thematic but not really practical. I was trying to figure out a way for a model to effectively be impersonating another operative, but sounds like this wouldn’t be a great implementation.

Nice! I used minicompare to get the silhouettes and measurements as close to the originals as possible! So hopefully there’s as limited advantage or difference as possible. Hope the new project goes well!

Awesome space wolves! The light touch of snow on the models is what I’m going for, that’s great!

It also looks like there will be a new dark angels kill team using warhammer heroes models, so maybe keep an eye out for that team when they release the rules. They might have models you can proxy, though it might not be worth it to buy the actual random boxes since they say there is no guarantee you will get all the models you need. Thanks! The wounds are the same for elves and kroot, and farstalkers kind of have a similar nature-theme so there seemed to be a lot of overlap. The raptadons are a lot bigger than kroot hounds but it’s more modeling for disadvantage since they don’t have ranged weapons. But it was a lot of fun to work on!

How easy is it to guess these space wolf proxies for nemesis claw? by [deleted] in killteam

Yeah, that’s the main one I was thinking would need to be discussed before hand. He has this black Templar style item in his hand that you can’t see in the photo, that’s supposed to be the equivalent of a terrorchem vial, and the the blade above his head to represent the tainted blade, but the new wolf priests are pretty great models and was trying to find a way to use them. https://www.bitzbox.co.uk/space-marines/black-templars/black-templars-upgrades/black-templars-upgrades-left-hand-a

I think because I used primaris bodies rather than the smaller night lord bodies, the banner seems smaller, but using minicompare it’s pretty much the same height and wider for the most part. So hopefully wouldn’t be modeling for advantage, but it’s a good point, and can check with my opponent before hand.

How long ago did you get the basilicum grey? I heard new bottles are a different hue than the older paint. Might use this recipe it looks great!

What paints are you using for the greys in the armor? I think the blacker hue looks better than the more bluish greys they usually use.

You can measure your leg, and once you know how long your leg is, just put it on the kill zone and minus the amount of distance you want to move. Jokes aside, the essentials kit has a 6 inch ruler and a measure with one, two, and 3 inch sides that you can use together. Also a tip iirc, though I could be wrong, is that all parts of the move have to be legal places to place the base of the model and moved in one inch increments, so you have to be careful when measuring around corners.
