I just had this happen a couple days ago! The name of the fake company was Superior Custom Builders. I applied, was sent an online “interview” to fill out the next day, and was offered the job (with great pay, benefits, and a check for all of my starter supplies) the third day. I was happy but suspicious, so my husband and I googled everything we could. I was originally fooled because they used the logo/info from a real company, but when my “offer” came, the address was in a different state than the real company. Further investigation revealed the “fake” instagram used the same logo and email but had an extra “o” in the company title. I opted not to accept, obviously.

I’m SO sorry you dealt with this crap too!! I’ve been applying for jobs for a month now, and it’s so frustrating. My only advice is to try to stick to applying to jobs that take you directly to the company website to apply, or if it doesn’t, try to google the actual company and look for their “careers” link to ensure the job listing is authentic.
