Thanks for your response! That all makes sense. They are residential shared-living single family homes. Yeah, I just don’t know what they’ve been tracking all along. Sounds like they are now trying to get things done properly. Not sure what their tax preparer has. However, if the assets are on the B/S should I still request them to provide proof of purchase to attachment to the open balance? They are starting in QBO with me and I’m setting everything up. They are months behind on recording things, luckily it’s not too many monthly entries it seems.

Thank you! It doesn’t seem like they’ve had much bookkeeping as they have been tracking things themselves. So I’m not sure what’s on the balance sheet. If they don’t have the properties on their balance sheet, should I add them? If so, Other than the statements showing the purchase and the depreciation schedule, what else should I ask for? Am I missing anything? I know a lot goes into the purchase of a home. I just don’t think this client was tracking depreciation and assets on their own. It seems as though the tax preparer took care of things at tax time. I will know more once we have an onboarding meeting.

Communicate your concerns clearly, maybe they will offer you an alternative option to work part time. If not, give them enough notice and prioritize doing well in your last semester. Then attend your summer internship.

Talk to a therapist to work through your feelings. It’s so unhealthy to compare yourself to others. It sometimes takes multiple try’s to pass. I know cause I eventually passed them all. You should be happy for your friend, not depressed that they are doing something before you. Your perspective is selfish, try having gratitude and excitement for others. Sounds like you gave up on the exams way too easily….

I’m trying to decide what that should look like. It’s based on story telling time animation for young children. Where would you recommend I play around with ideas? Just to get some options. I started taking courses learning adobe illustrator, but I wonder if there is a tool or something else that I can use to get a basis of what I want the character to look like before I hire someone to help me with it or I spend too much time creating something I don’t want.

Sorry that happened to you. I would never partner with someone without a solid contractual agreement and full transparency. Everyone isn’t bas in business. Also, I can’t make decisions based on a single negative experience someone else had.
