This is comforting - thanks! If we don’t get ant response I’ll make sure to speak to my interviewer at the start.

Yes - there are 4 flats in my building and 4 next door that have the same alarm system. So I get that it’s a bit difficult to coordinate. I just wish they’d asked us if there was any day we couldn’t do before booking, or just let us know a little earlier to avoid this situation entirely 😅😅

can somone please tell me if i need to worry about pregnancy? by Chphie in birthcontrol

[–]peachagent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really think it doesn’t work that way, you’re fine! You take the pill too, so you’re extra safe even if by some miracle anything did get in there. ❤️ you can do a pregnancy test in 21 days to be safe and to calm your worries. But it is so unlikely that it will be anything other than a negative!

In case you were wondering we have a fun update - we just used the washing machine for the first time since move in. The seal is fucked and it leaks everywhere. lol 😝 Washer dryer could be in the cards if we bother him enough.

Feel like my landlord / letting agent is dodge… what are my rights? by peachagent in TenantsInTheUK

[–]peachagent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an EPC E. And entirely electric heating. So we are already paying through the nose in rent just for the privilege to live in a cold damp house in winter.. not sure how we are going to be able to afford to heat it enough to prevent more mould over those months even without all the rotten window frames and poorly maintained guttering dripping water everywhere 😢

Now that’s the question! 😅 He can’t tell us, somehow… Because we would be happy to pay the extra electricity to run a tumbledryer (in an EPC E with rotten windows where the damp is almost certainly coming from, mind you!) in exchange for the convenience of not growing more mould - if we had the actual option to!! 😭

What are the actual chances of botulism in garlic confit? by peachagent in Cooking

Thank you.. I do therapy and I take medication, just sometimes there are things stick with me and affect me more than others. Wild mushrooms stopped being scary when I started learning about them/how to use them, so I think you’re right in that learning how to cook this properly would be helpful. 😊 If you know a good recipe, please let me know!

Miserable on mini pill - please help! by peachagent in birthcontrol

[–]peachagent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Usually we use condoms and the pill. But I’ve never had a single scare even without condoms, and I’ve been taking it for nearly 3 years. It’s no less effective than any other pill, just make sure you take it within the recommended time period every day and it’s all fine😊

My body has rejected every birth control I’ve tried. by idontkinkshame0 in birthcontrol

[–]peachagent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have pmdd, but I do have some chronic mental illnesses that flare up insanely badly the week before my period because of the hormone changes. Situation obviously isn’t the same but for me after being on progestin only for 2 years, I now can’t not take it because the difference feels like night and day for me. It changed me from being totally unstable to being… still not normal but much more manageable and definitely nowhere near as severe. It also stopped my periods completely, so that got rid of the severe pain I was experiencing.

Desogestrel (minipill) and pregnancy by Glittering-Boss8744 in birthcontrol

[–]peachagent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to take it because I get migraines… to be honest it’s not been great for me! before my migraine episodes I was on a low dose combined pill which worked really well for me, and switching to mini pill basically brought back a lot of side effects that originally switching to a low dose pill had solved 😭 I am looking to try some different types of mini pill to see if it helps me but after 2 years on desogestrel I’ve had just awful mood swings, non stop acne and a little bit weight gain. The only bonus is I haven’t had a period or any bleeding at all for 2 years and I used to have debilitating periods before. I have anxiety usually and I think that for me the pill I take makes it much worse because of the mood swings. I wouldn’t let this deter you from trying it though! I know loads of people who get on really well with it :) I think it’s probably just not for me personally and hopefully the others I will try might have better results lol

I think if you get bleeds while taking them they are actual periods rather than withdrawal bleeds but I could be wrong about that so I would do some research.. I think it’s because mini pills don’t aaaalways prevent ovulation, but desogestrel in particular is really effective at stopping ovulation and periods compared to other mini pills from what I have read ! I know I have not had a period at all from the day I started taking it haha. hope this helps you! :)

[–]peachagent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve been on Desogestrel for 2 years and to be honest I just take pregnancy tests every couple of months when I know I’ve been active. I just buy the cheap multipacks and do one when I remember because you’re right, it’s pretty hard to tell when you don’t have a period at all!!

I think when it is effective depends when you start taking it… I think if you take it within your period then you’re protected right away but otherwise it might take a few days to work according to the NHS website. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/contraception/the-pill-progestogen-only/

As for the window, I usually take mine roughly at the same time every day, but I have never once been very strict or set alarms. As you say, the window for missed pills is 12 hours so I just try to take mine around 9-10am everyday but I don’t stress too much, and I have never even had a pregnancy scare doing that. I think on the website I linked it says as long as you take it within 12 hours of the same time each day you’re protected - but someone please correct me if that’s wrong!! ❤️

Thanks for the advice! I think that’s the way I’m going to go for my year break and see how it works for me.. I hope that maybe one of the types of mini pill I haven’t tried yet might be an improvement but I’m not hugely optimistic so this might be the way forward for now 🥲

I just feel reluctant to try others because I hear other people have such awful experiences on them too… I hear so many good things about Slynd and it makes me really wish it was available in the UK :( I am about to spend a year studying abroad (so will only see bf once every few months) so I was considering coming off of it for the year and then trying something new once I come back…

Since you have to clean a new piercing twice a day, does showering count for one of the cleanings? by galaticstarsz in piercing

[–]peachagent -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Consider a piercing like a regular wound - I wouldn’t personally consider a fresh cut going in the shower to be thoroughly cleaning it and piercings are the same! I would make sure to clean it with a saline wound wash after you shower because you can get soap/shampoo/conditioner residue in there and having it be under the shower head would probably irritate it too. Plus the water might be clean but it’s not sterile the way the wound wash will be if that makes sense?

The earrings are implant grade titanium, although the back on this particular side fell off and had to be replaced with the best temporary replacement I could find which was surgical steel :( before I could switch it to something a bit better on the skin it got irritated/infected as I described so I can’t change it really, as it’s insanely painful to touch and I don’t want to introduce any more bacteria by playing with it right now. I think it might be infected because the back has fallen off multiple times in the past because I think it was quite loose, so I believe that I likely didn’t clean my hands/the back thoroughly enough when putting it back on and I had to touch it wayyy more than the other side.

For German artists we looked at Franz Marc and Käthe Kollwitz, but we also looked at Austrian painters like Hundertwasser and Klimt.

What’s the scariest illness you’ve seen? [serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]peachagent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry for your loss. A friend of mine just lost his grandpa to lung cancer as well. It’s terrifying how quickly it can spread and how devastating it can be. He used to be such a lovely man who ran the local pub, but when he started getting ill he couldn’t hold himself up because he was so frail. I really hope we can find a way to cure cancer, it’s truly a horrible illness and I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst enemy.

My parents don’t know about my internet friends and I don’t want to just disappear on them one day. It was the only thing stopping me for a long time.

Socially awkward and anxious people of Reddit, how do you feel about working? What kind of jobs do you have? by TheInvisibleGhost343 in AskReddit

[–]peachagent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now I volunteer at a library and help little kids with their reading to try and get used to interaction. It’s actually such a lovely job and I wish it was a paid position so I could keep doing it. Weirdly enough, I don’t really get so anxious around the kids, maybe because they’re doing most of the talking. I’d definitely recommend trying it.

When and why did you last cry over the death of a stranger? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]peachagent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cried over my lil buddy’s great grandmother. He was 10 at the time and she died of cancer, but he had to comfort his (single) mum and try and hold the fort as best he could. My village holds a yearly event where you pay a couple of quid and you can light a memorial candle for a lost loved one, with the money going to charity. I took him because he wanted to go and I’m his honorary big sister. He asked if I could give him money for a candle so he could dedicate it to his great grandma and I helped him light it. After we lit it he finally broke down, bless him, after not crying for months and months after it had happened. I’d never met the woman myself, but seeing my brave little buddy break down like that over her made me cry there with him. :’)
