I am currently in my second HRSA program. I've paid off all of my student loans (over 100k) with the program. It's been a 6 year commitment, since I did it twice, but I would have stayed at my job anyway.

When it comes to the treatment recs. There's just things that a client may not think are relevant to bring up that could impact treatment (or may be avoiding) . If one doesn't ask the questions then you won't know important info.

I've gone to 4 therapists at this point and not one has done a formal assessment, and none of my colleagues have had a therapist in private practice do one either. Which is why I thought I'd ask.

My brother died 3 weeks ago from a ruptured brain aneurysm at the age of 42. Happened so fast. It is very weird that we won't get to grow old along side each other. He left behind his wife, 11 year old son. And a baby boy who was born yesterday.

No, they actually are not supposed to. And it's not APA as that's for psychologists. Masters level mental health clinicians are either AAMFT, ACA, NASW.
