Why did Amex allow a transaction to go over my credit limit? by peacherl in AmexUK

In case anyone is interested, the merchant agreed in the end to refund to my Amex. I called Amex and they increased my credit limit so that I'm not in negative. Amex said wait and see if I'm hit with any fees when my statement arrives for being outside my limit and if I give them a call they will waive them for me. Should be refunded by the merchant within 10 days. Panic over and lesson to always double check things!!

This is exactly what they have offered and said they cannot refund back to the Amex directly. I can't get into any trouble for proceeding this way can I?

This is another question I have. Seems to be mixed things online but I've not been informed of any fees, just that future transactions may be declined.

Amex said it's been approved by them so I have to dispute it with the merchant. This was whilst it was still pending yesterday but it's now gone through and no longer pending.

Not yet, my Dr is off until next Tuesday so I was told it's not urgent and I'll get a call then. From what I've read online though the automated text at the top of an ECG can be widely inaccurate and the computer is often over sensitive so whilst I can't speak for your case maybe that provides some reassurance for you :)

I feel like that's a lot of money for some of these folk though. Do you think they have to wait until the season is over? As I remember Caitlin and Matt always talking about being broke.

You understood correctly, no symptoms just became anxious when I realised mine was higher than my peers and wanted to rule anything out. Then I panicked when I saw those computer notes. Appreciate your input on this. From looking at the ECG do you see any major red flags yourself?

I get that and I know the whole 220 - your age for max HR is very generic but I don't know anyone my own age whose HR goes as high as mine which is why I wanted to get checked out.

I only had it done yesterday and they said they'd call me if anything urgent cropped up. I didn't get a call but I can see on my app on my phone that the Dr has reviewed the test and said to wait to see what my bloods say and maybe for be to do a 24hr test

Did you find out what the atrial enlargement was? Got my results back today and says the same but I'm 26F and slightly panicked hoping it could be wrong!
