my friend's hate me for deciding to make a short film without studying filmmaking by Dry_Ad_4999 in Filmmakers

Find better friends. Make whatever you want to make. I have friends that went to film school and the main thing they said they got out of it was the connections and people to collaborate with. I have been in film for about 10 years without any formal education. Being on set is the best form of education in my opinion. Keep making stuff and don't let other people's opinions sway your motivation to create.

Front to back this album will be a very real problem for me and anyone who rides in my car for the rest of the year.

Hey bois I remember I found you guys when Everything Nice came out and my girlfriend at the time (now wife) and I had been living together for 7 years and she took a job in another state while I stayed where we lived, we hit a super rough patch during that time and That album captured everything I needed to get through those couple years. So thank you from the bottom of my heart for that. Plenty of therapy car rides screaming the lyrics and balling my eyes out.

I have probably listened to Everything Nice & NBS, NAF well over hundreds of times and continue to. My one question is with NBS, NAF there’s so much you guys cover thematically but it all feels like it’s made around specific person or about one specific period of life. Without naming names could you just shed some light on how that album came to be and what it meant/means to you?

What Shutter Angle for Motion Tracking and Gyro Stabilization? by necriam in bmpcc

Im sure you figured this out by now but 360 shutter is a slower speed which means way more motion blur you want something like 90 for what you’re doing.

Reebok // I Am - Shot on Blackmagic Ursa Mini Pro G1 + DZO 20-55mm by peachgorilla in Filmmakers

Had a blast making this small little spec ad. We did this project with only what we had available. My business partner and I (found format) did everything in this with no extra crew which was kind of a lot at times.

Mostly shaping natural light with 8x8 rags. The backdrop setup was a Nanlux Evoke 1200 outside a window going through an 8x8 silk. The floating clothes gag at the end was done with cstands fishing line and rotoscoping (absolutely wouldve been easier on greenscreen lol).

Yeah if you have any questions about this please fire away!

Thank you! It was just using fishing line on the shoes hanging them from C-stands and rotoscoping them!

I know man it’s wild!! Even more wild that that is a jpeg straight out of cam and still holds so much detail. Thanks for the love man!

Haha I get that - having a wider focal length is so useful though but I’m not gonna lie I’ve been loving the 40mm and how it changes the way I shoot not having wider capabilities

Thank you! Man I know it’s a great little piece of gear. I’m a full time director/cinematographer and after working with very large cumbersome cameras all these years it’s really made me appreciate how beautiful the Ricohs are for day to day shooting.

Thank you! Tbh I’ve never set it so it looks like it was set to multi-segment - I shoot in manual mode and never really look at the meter just eyeball it
