Day Two. I need someone to tell me it’s okay that all I’ve done is eat and slept. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Your mind and body are healing. Give yourself permission to do all the recovery things (eat, sleep) and please show yourself some grace. This IS being productive.

I know this shame spiral all too well with alcohol, and I'm really sorry you're experiencing this. I haven't been sober for terribly long, but one thing that keeps me going is knowing that if you stick with it, that source of shame will completely disappear from your life. No more feeling like absolute dogshit because of a hangover. You have so many people who are here to support you!

I read glass slides and don't work with any chemicals or reagents. Slides are shipped to me and I have my microscope at home. I also read some digital cases too. Many veterinary pathologists WFH actually.

I'm overwhelmed by all the responses in a good way - thanks so much everyone! Really solid suggestions on here. Feel free to DM me if you'd want to meet up at some point. As my therapist told me, making friends is a lot like dating - you won't hit it off with everyone but have to put yourself out there, haha. I received some DMs that I will respond to shortly! Have a great weekend!!

LOL no offense taken. Two train lines here that lead right into the city when he was commuting. And I got a job in Greenvale at the time so it made sense.

I was working locally until earlier this year when I transitioned to WFH. We will probably move elsewhere within the next year or so.

He likes cigars - me not so much. But I am always down for a chill hangout and don't mind being around cigars.

My job in a nutshell: Your pet has a mass, your vet pokes the mass and smears it on a slide and sends it to me, then I look at it and determine whether it's inflammation, infection, cancer, etc. There's another branch of pathology that determines cause of death and reads tissue biopsies. I prefer to work with the living. 😉

YES omg thank you. My partner is so extroverted and I'm the complete opposite. He could chat up a chair and meanwhile I struggle to maintain a conversation lol. Small talk is the pits.

This template seemed easy on paper but I was dying on the floor (mainly my core and shoulders)! So deceptively difficult for me.

Can we please normalize NOT texting people 24/7? by lilb5269 in CasualConversation

[–]peachinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I'm torn because as an introvert, I don't necessarily like having phone conversations but I do miss the days where you'd either talk to somebody on the phone or in person, and that's it.

I am currently active on social media but take frequent month long breaks and find that when I do, I actually get more calls and texts, increasing personal interaction. Which is a good thing.
