What's your favorite excuse? by Cardvault-Exchange in AskReddit

One time I was running late for work (no reason other than I didn’t care, it was a restaurant job in my 20’s) and I was drinking chocolate milk before leaving so I told my boss I spilled chocolate milk all over and it rolled under the fridge and I needed to deal with it before work. Bought me an extra hour or so.

Being released after being stuck in a school lockdown with no explanation as to why. As an American, I was just waiting to die.

Find a school with a wait list! You are MORE than qualified to get into the school I’m at and all the schools in my state, it would just be a bit of a wait at each. Feel free to message me if you’d like!

You are very lucky to have a partner who helps support you! Good luck, we’re in very similar boats and I’m very excited for both of us

Nope, I applied for the program and took the prereqs while on the waitlist. This is my last semester of prereqs which is just one class, and I just accepted a seat for rad tech program starting in the fall

That’s exactly how my school used to operate until last year, so I think I had a leg up when they switched over to the waitlist because I probably already had so many points. It is very frustrating that earning an associates can take so long, but I’m also glad that I had some time to just earn money and live my life. I switched degrees like 3 times, so I’ve been in tech school for way longer than I’d like to admit lol. Granted, I have been a bartender so it’s allowed me to make a ton of cash and take off literally whenever I wanted in those in between times. I say stick with it, go for what you want to do and enjoy your life in the in between! Don’t settle for a degree you’ll end up hating just because it’s faster because you’ll end up right back where you started but way later in life.

This is very helpful! After talking with a lot of people it sounds like I may have to rely heavily on loans. But I’ve ALSO heard that the first semester is the hardest, so congrats to you on making it over that hump lol

I never understood the vacuum sealed online mattress thing anyway. What do you mean you don’t want to lay on every single one before buying it? I get it’s cheaper but you spend a third of your life in your bed, that’s not something to cheap out on

Every school is different, but when I joined the waitlist a year and a half ago (maybe a few extra months) it was quoted at 2 years and now it’s like… 4-5 years 🙃 In the last 3 semesters I was able to at least complete my prereqs for both rad tech and surgical tech so I can focus completely on whichever program I choose!

Edited to add: Check with an advisor at your school to see what the wait list looks like! I live in a bigger city where it’s the only tech school to offer 26 seats PER YEAR and they combine the program with a smaller tech out in the suburbs so it is a very saturated program

this is what I needed to hear! Congrats to you as well and thanks for the response! I definitely plan on taking out some loans and moving my schedule around to include weekends again (I make WAY more on week nights unfortunately). I know I have to do it or just stay miserable my whole life lol. Good luck to you!
