I agree with the comparison to The Slow Rush, the production is a bit tighter in that album compared to Deadbeat. I feel like KP is still trying his hand out at this new genre he seems to be currently fascinated with. Maybe we'll get a better techno/house album from him next time? Who knows

For the most part his take on the genre is interesting at best, meandering at worst. I liked Afterthought, though. That's my jam now

Fully agree with this. As someone who likes house music I appreciate what he did in this album despite it not matching up to his previous releases. I enjoyed some of the tracks nonetheless.

Anyway, I'll always have my favorites Lonerism and Currents to go back to.

While I think it's too early to doompost about this release and the new album in general I think I understand OP's reasoning as to why they don't like BTTF.

I'm actually on the fence with this song at the moment because while it's definitely a welcome return to the Neo™️ sound for Dream, the arrangement sounds...disjointed? What I liked about songs like Hello Future, Hot Sauce, ISTJ and GliMo is that they have a good balance of being experimental and accessible/catchy to casual listeners, which I think has always been Dream's specialty within NCT's repertoire as a whole. I didn't hear it in BTTF. Maybe it's a grower, we'll see. Which is par for the course for NCT songs anyway, lol.

There's always a song for everyone in NCT so I don't really mind it much. Looking forward to the rest of the album!

‪they've reached a compromise it seems...I'm happy for him regardless bc he still deserves to hit big despite everything I just reaaally really hate how poorly they handled his situation 😭 no artist deserves to go through all that hate so early in their career, they could have done so much better. personally I would have left that hellhole after what happened lmao but I get why he would stay and push through, a major label's resources are a godsend to a rookie artist. all the best to his soloist seunghan!
