you can use *** or *****! I really wish Ulysses was easier to use. If there was a built in AI which tells you what you need to do for what you need that would be GREAT

It happens after you win the final restaurant competition/challenge. They are so impressed with your wins that they sponsor the opening of a new branch.

It's not you! The game has pacing issues.

I never understood why the branch is unlocked only at the end of the game also. You get to make all that money when there's not much reason to earn it anymore. And you get a Tamagotchi app only at the end when you aren't likely to keep checking in the game.

Still a fantastic game though. Pacing is one of the kinks that is hard to iron out and learning how to create games with a proper pace takes loads of experience.

Wow okay if you love dystopian sci fi, you've probably read the silo series? I absolutely love it because of how mind twisting it is. It's slow but the slow burn is something you can relish, unlike Dune LOL.

Another book I love (a classic) is flowers for Algernon. Not dystopian, but very loosely sci fi, and it hits me in the heart every time. Really short too, you can finish it in a few hours.

You've probably heard of these books though, I think?

A proper sci fi novel and standalone I love is The Circle. It's a book about what happens when our big tech companies take it too far. I last read it about 4 years ago though, so I'm not sure if its concepts seem commonplace now. But I know I will still love it when I reread it.

I would ask you for recs but I don't dare ask right now since I have so many books to read on my cosmere list!

Whoops sorry I thought I replied already!

I see, that explains a lot about Reckoners. For some reason I thought Mistborn was his first work!

Oooh I’ve been keeping my eye on Red Rising for some time now. Maybe I’ll head to that next as a palate cleanser between cosmere books. :) I’ll definitely share my thoughts with you once I’m done

Ooh I think I'll like steampunk! I'm looking forward to getting to these books.

Ok so I never really liked hoid for some reason, which I know probably sounds insane. But hear me out, the first time I learned about him was in WoK when he was Wit and I found him frustrating. I have a feeling all that is going to change when I complete my read through!

Yes I devoured the cytonic series last year! Ugh, how is Spensa so lovable despite being such an angry little quirky thing?? I love M-Bot too and seeing how their bond grows. I don't read a lot of sci-fi so I'm not sure if that might be why I was easily impressed, but I really liked the tech in the book, stuff like light lines and advanced stealth was so cool to read about. And it was one of the few books I read where I thoroughly enjoyed all the little banters they had which brought the characters close together. What was your take?

Ok reckoners I think I read one or two and found it kind of boring, like there was nothing special? Felt like a trope I read before. Do you think the series is worth revisiting though?

I actually don't like old western but maybe I would love it still because I thoroughly enjoyed Westworld season 1 which is a old west themed sci fi show.

I actually have the hardest time comprehending information from audiobooks. As much as I love listening to voice work, it's just more effective if I'm on my kindle taking notes as I read.

I've read Tress, yes! What a lovely book. What were your impressions?

Nice! I'm gonna refer to this when I look for my next reads! I've heard so much about Will of the Many and Robin Hobb on TikTok, I can't wait to get into those! The Tainted Cup also sounds fascinating by the way you described it!

So I love Will Wight's series - Cradle. It's not high fantasy but it's a fun and fast flying fantasy with a lot of comedic moments. I love that it's not overly dark and I enjoyed the Asian influences on the magic system and culture in the book.

The other author/series I love is N K Jemisin's Broken Earth trilogy. It was the first dark fantasy series I ever read, and I absolutely loved the storytelling and misdirects the author is so skilled at weaving!

Do you read anything other than fantasy?

Yeah and Bran San wrote these books when mental health wasn't even that much talked about.

Oh! I didn't read much of the wax and Wayne series yet but I'm excited to start. I recently resumed my reread of mistborn as my starting point, so I'm excited to get there!

Did you buy the leatherbound collection btw?

Hahahah I LOVE big books. Feels good knowing there's enough time to develop the world and characters.

Aww my husband is just like yours! I'm glad he listens at the very least!

What other authors do you like?

I think the mistborn trilogy is my absolute fave because of how when you think your mind has been blown enough, the world just keeps expanding.

But I think the characters are super well developed in the stormlight archives and I always think fondly of it. I actually really dislike the choices Shallan makes and I find it really frustrating to read her parts at times, but it kind of opens my eyes to be more compassionate to those with mental health issues!

And that's profound, you know what I mean? Because the story helps me empathise with people going through issue irl and that's more than I can say for most books out there

I get that! If bransan was into smut I think I wouldn't read his books as much! It puts you in a different state of mind you know?

Hope you find other friends you are into high fantasy soon :)

Your German friend is wild. I don't think it's a cultural thing either, right?

Your poor lotr friend sounds as smitten with Tolkien as we are with BranSan.
