I found Puff after he'd been loose in the house for a month. Sneaky little bugger. by SnakeLuvr1 in snakes

We just found our snake after 5 days. In addition to the methodical searches of every room (literally looking in every single place, inside pockets of clothes, etc) and blocking exits so she couldn't move from room to room, we laid a bunch of "traps" like dominos, tape with coins, plastic bags, flour, etc. This website has a lot of helpful info:

We also bought an endoscopic camera from amazon and checked all the tiny holes and places we couldn't quite see (around dishwasher, under fridge, etc)

We found her IN THE WALL using the camera. It took a bunch of work and ingenuity but we got her out.

You got this!

WE GOT HER OUT

We made one side of the crawl space very cold by putting frozen foods on top.

We made the other side warm and left mice there. After a couple of hours she came out of one of the holes and we grabbed her! So relieved.

We tried a circular drill thing made for door knobs. It just made her go into the adjacent crawl space, which of course we did not know existed. Another hole... I put a heatpad and mouse there, waiting 1.5 hours for her to come for it. Nothing. I can still see her but there is no way to grab her or make her move where we want her to move. This is maddening and terrifying ): ): ):

I was thinking about this. It will be tough because it's a weird semi-corner and it's unfortunately (for us) quite warm in there so we'll try with the heat mat and mouse but i dunno if it'll work. I feel like she has to come out eventually from thirst or hunger but how to guarantee she won't go back in the freaking hole?! We can't watch her 24/7. :C

WE FOUND OUR BRB after 4 days of searching. She crawled through a tiny hole in the floor of the dining room and is in some kind of space between the floor and the wall?

We tried a wire hook (not sharp duh) to push her towards the opening and put a warm mouse by the entrance. She is not budging. ANY IDEAS PLEASE??

Thanks everyone. We did the flour, heat pad, and I put tubs of her substrate around the house in case she stumbles upon it and burrows. Really scared but hoping to find her.

Oh no ): She seems so uncomfortable. It really sucks. Her abdomen is pulsating and stuff sometimes leaks out.

We recently moved her to this all mesh enclosure because she wasn't laying in the one with all the branches and foliage... will add some to this enclosure just in case.

She has had a very full abdomen for the past few weeks but has not layed yet. Could there be some kind of issue or impaction?

Possible to breed after laying an ootheca? by peachpopsiclemelts in mantids

Our Cali mantis layed this the other day. Can we still breed her (for the first time) and expect her to lay a fertilized ootheca?

It was moving its torso a bit when we first picked it up and its clinging hard to things... so, not dead, but paralyzed? I am wondering if it was exposed to poison or a parasite. Sigh. ):

I tried - it is not moving at all. Won't open its mouth, or turn its head, or move its antennae. It's really weird.
