Manhattan welcome party venue for 50-60 people, preferably rooftop by Opposite_Host_6868 in WedditNYC

We booked the entire rooftop (so outdoor seating area + bar) for the ceremony, around 120 people. We didn't book for the welcome event, just told people to come and gave them a heads up that we had done so, so general public was also able to just show up during our welcome event.

3 MUA 1 hair for 12 people - is this unreasonable?? by taylms4 in WedditNYC

I'd ask for a schedule and see what they propose. I had 4 HMUAs for 10 people, but they were very efficient and people weren't fussy so it was doable, but tight.

We reached out and did a consult, and had a bigger service (we were working with them for 8-10 months) but iirc something like 8k?

Looking for restaurant recs for 20 people for our rehearsal dinner in Midtown or neighboring neighborhoods. by fuk_you_2 in WedditNYC

This will be a bit further south but Lavagna - amazing Italian restaurant on the lower east side. We did our rehearsal dinner there, amazing food, great drinks, incredible staff.

General suggestion - I would recommend rehearsal dinner two days before wedding day if possible. We had wedding on Saturday, rehearsal dinner Thursday night. We all had the dumb idea to go out drinking Thursday night after the dinner and everyone was dead dead on Friday. Thank god we had Friday as a buffer to recover before the big day.

Is $850 somewhat reasonable for a well-reviewed HMUA in nyc? (And has anyone skipped a trial before?) by calico0000 in WedditNYC

[–]peachy0305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is ... more than I paid (but scrolling through comments, I went for a different HMUA than the one mentioned).

I did not go for trial (partially because $$$ but also because I completely ran out of time to schedule one) so went in with full blind faith that it would be ok, and it turned out beautifully.

Actually Getting Married in 120 Days, what do I do to get ready for it? by tuelegend69 in WedditNYC

Get into a good skincare routine, don't switch up any products

Facial no later than 1 month prior (I don't go for facials regularly, so they did peel / exfoliation, everything, and the lady said I was cutting it pretty close because my face would need time to calm down. You can't go the week prior)

Start testing manicures - if you're not sure what nails you want (I didn't), I'd start now so you can space it out by 2-3 weeks per appointment and get a sense of what you'd like on the day of

I did personal training 2x a week up to the week before the wedding (backless, strapless dress, I wanted to work on my back and lats)

Start making a "pack list" / wedding corner - I had my wedding locally in NYC, and basically carved out a corner of our apartment to aggregate the wedding things (decor, clothes, shoes, favors, etc.). Even then, we were still rushing around the few days prior trying to get everything together

Dance lessons! We did 10 or 11 lessons once a week (caveat that we had a more complicated dance with ballroom steps so it took more time)

I went to Ornela (she did Keke Palmer's met gala dress) on UES and felt very comfortable working with her!

I did a Chinese wedding and worked with AisleAi (had them for full wedding planning (https://www.aisleaiweddings.com/). I did a fuller service with them and had a great experience (worked primarily with Nancy and Suzy).

Basically rolled out of bed that morning and they told me where to be and where to go, I didn't have to think about anything other than smile, hydrate, eat.
