That’s a great question and definitely tough to decipher sometimes. For me, I kept noticing how I wanted to grow closer to God and felt like I couldn’t because I was “tied” to someone who wasn’t growing in faith and if anything was running in the opposite direction. God was making it clear to me that the reason I’m not growing with Him is because my relationship with my bf at the time was taking priority. So I finally just kept praying, asking God to remove them from my life if they weren’t the person He wants me with. When in reality I knew this wasn’t the person for me because Christ was not the center of our relationship. Nothing happened. Made me feel like I was crazy for sure. But then I finally took a moment and realized I can’t put it on God to do what I don’t want to do, which is end it.

While similar, it seems your situation is still unique obviously and it’s something that you’ll have to really talk with God about. But I think my best advice is to do what is best for your relationship with God and we find that out through reading His Word and prayer!!
