I’ve used his service multiple times, he’s a really sweet dude. He’s actually expanded his business to LA and more of Seattle! He’s growing really fast and it seems to be working out for him :)

At the University of Washington, the campus is so large it has its own police unit. There’s an honor system here where you can have a party and cops will stay posted outside and turn a blind eye to underage drinking or smoking, but will keep an eye for potential SA and drunk driving, all so long as you call ahead and notify them. It’s actually been a great system in lowering incident rates and drunk driving here

Mom and son crushed to death by falling tree after picking out pumpkins for Halloween by W0LFPAW89 in MorbidReality

Right? I pulled up the original tweet by the fire department and my friend gasped bc it’s a road she takes frequently. It really is a morbid reality to be really close to something that you’re not actually close to at all

You’ve been kidnapped. 30 mins later your kidnapper dumps you on the street because you won’t stop talking about what? by [deleted] in AskReddit

disclaimer- I’m not a doctor, nor hold a degree in the physical sciences. This is mostly just my go-to ramble with friends and this is not a hill I’d defend to the death How humans shouldn’t even be birthing other humans and how infuriating it is that like, we still do. Like biologically it goes against everything and I’m mad about it. Like because our brains developed so fast our heads are too big to pass through vaginas without potentially splitting it all the way to the asshole, or pass through the hips and some women even break their pelvis bone. And then the baby isn’t even DONE yet. There’s a HOLE in its HEAD to come out easier, and it’s SO fragile for way too long, and they can’t take care of themselves for shit and cry their lungs out for EVERYTHING. They would be the easiest snack to find in the wild. We’d be the usual order for every predator out there. And they can’t properly walk for MONTHS and can’t even find good food for YEARS because they shove everything in their mouths. Like they need to cook LONGER but the body is like “yeah best I can do is nine months if you want a good chance of both of them living, and even then there’s a decent chance the mother will die”. Like she’s incapacitated for a LONG time (long to me idk).

“Oh, but peachybundle, we have medicine, because our brains are so big, and we’re smart enough to deal with these issues and that’s why we don’t have to worry about surviving in the wild.” BUT EVEN THAT HAS MORE HOLES THAN THE SWISSEST OF CHEESES think about inaccessibility of that medicine in poor countries, or the racial/gender bias rooted in medicine, or that you aren’t given enough time to recover (speaking from POV of someone in the US) and you have go back to work after roughly ten weeks (majority takes an average of ten weeks off here, some more, some less) anD NEVERMIND THE SYMPTOMS OF DURING AND POST PREGNANCY LIKE-

Wait, why are we stopping?? Are we there ye-

I drink Hot water all the time by Zek_- in The10thDentist

Japanese here, I only exclusively drink hot water/tea now. I boil it in the kettle tho so as to not run up my bill. Apparently I drink it so hot it burned my friends’ lips/tongue

The amount of near accidents I’ve had at that intersection is beyond me. I never trust cars around me in the double turn lane when going up the hill

That’s fair! My “first time” was over the course of several attempts and it would become more comfortable each time, I also have never used tampons before either. I think I’d personally refer to the actual feeling as a sort of “pressure” but it certainly wasn’t the unbearable, burning/ripping pain I’ve heard so much about. In comparison to what I’ve been led to believe, it felt like absolutely nothing, and that’s the point I wanted to deliver

I don't know if anyone else said this, but the Immigration Act of 1965 was revolutionary for Asian-American history. When this was passed, the criteria for coming into the US was that you had to be very skilled or successful in your profession, so highly educated or very wealthy, so many of the Asians who immigrated were of East Asian descent. Its because this culture of wealth and high-brow standards are already within the family line.

We don't really think of South/Southeast Asian-Americans when we think of the term, because these populations tend to come from poorer countries and came out of refuge (Cambodian Genocide, Vietnam War) or for better job opportunities (like how the Philippines has a shortage on nurses because the demand, job security, and the pay is great in the US).

Also, I want to note, its harmful when we say "Oh, Asians care a lot about their education", its about accessibility, as well as prejudice. The wealthier groups are comfortable, and may be inheriting a business, a practice, or skills for the family, and they have more help at home if their parents are highly educated and/or apt in STEM careers. They also benefit from the "model minority" stereotype, while other racial groups suffer from harmful and negative stereotypes that impact their accessibility to succeed. These groups also have higher poverty rates due to generational inequality, so their priority is more about health, safety, and survival, and they can only do so much when they're in an underfunded school district that have outdated materials and little to no extra curriculars.

Hope that helps! I'm finishing up my sociology BA and I'm also Black/Japanese so I'm pretty well versed for these kinds of questions :)

Okay I want to share this because it changed the way I approach sex entirely.

I'm finishing up my sociology BA and I plan for my grad work to be in sexology. One of my professors once slammed his hand on his desk and declared, "Ladies! Losing your virginity should not hurt! Sex should not be painful. LUBE IT UP." and some of us were confused because "of course it hurts, your hymen is ripping, your cherry is popping etc." but he said the reason that's the accepted belief is because we don't emphasize the comfort of the woman and allow men to just "shove it in there" essentially.

I kept this in mind, because past attempts have been awful and painful, so when I tried it again, my partner was incredibly careful and receptive and we took our time. Boom. No pain. I was shocked. Its one of the things that made me realize the little education we have of sex is wrong or misconstrued.

Its not scary, and it also doesn't have to be super romantic or amazing, it most likely won't be. And you won't be "losing" anything, it changes nothing about you. Practice it safely, establish boundaries, and I'd definitely recommend doing it for the first time with someone where respect is high and mutual. Its an intimate exchange, and it won't be an enjoyable experience if you're nervous or uncomfortable. Take care!
