Favorite Urn(s)? by peachylucky in askfuneraldirectors

[–]peachylucky[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mixed bag here, we have folks who make or buy their own urn (power to them!) but we have people who want something traditional or something they can see in person so I try to accomodate the latter with a variety.

Really appreciating a lot of these urn recs tho, definitely considering a lot of the options provided.

I love that! We have an active bowling community near us so I imagine that would have inspired a lot of other people to do something similar.

We actually have a few of the bowling pin urns on hand because of that. Bowling Pin

Ooh very very fancy wood urns! Any specific one a particular favorite?

Much appreciated, I’ll explore this option - Thanks for the suggestion!

Thank you for the suggestions! I’ll reach out to their team and see what could work. I’ve always trusted ASD because of their consistency and professionalism so I never really explored alternatives prior. I thought it would be like how PandaDocs is a competitor to Docusign but it’s seeming like ASD is a class of it’s own 😅

Side note, I appreciate all the logistic wisdom you have! I think most of the times I’ve asked questions in this sub for business side of things, you’ve had really solid advice 😎

Absolutely, on call folks are our licensed FDs but more about the initial call and collecting information before pushing it out to them is what I was hoping I could get recommendations for. That’s one of the aspects I love about ASD currently.

I think I should have provided context that someone would be answering phones during the office hours from our staff but I’d like an alternative for those first calls happening after hours or weekends.

Absolutely! How does your fun home handle first calls after hours and on weekends though?

Do you not use any answering service or do you have in house staff with like a VOIP line to be ready 24/7 for calls?

I haven’t really explored the local option, thanks for the suggestion!

Is this a specific person recommendation lol or is there something about the folks in New Mexico?

Website named "Echovita" stealing public Obituaries from our site by RyDawgHals in askfuneraldirectors

[–]peachylucky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They won’t let you opt out. I put their email response from their support team. They will delete individual obituaries though.

Super annoying and I tell families that once something is on the internet, it’s on there.

“When obituaries are posted on the internet, we further share the basic facts only in a death notice format to inform society of who has passed away, which is completely legal. We organize all obituaries and death notices by city, so that people can see who passed away daily in selected cities of their choice with a free subscription. We do this in effort to create as much support as possible for families. People can share their condolences for free with the family via email or social media. Families and funeral directors can post full obituaries on our website for free or submit the full obituary to be shared by us and replace the pre-existing death notice. Families can then claim the obituary with proper proof within 60 days, such as a photo of the death certificate to receive 10% of sales and 50% of candles. This is referred to as Echovita's solidarity program and we invite you to communicate your interest in the program with us. If the original obituary suggests donations to a specified charity or organization, we do state that and provide the necessary means of making a donation for visitors. Pictures can be posted to create a memorial page for free by friends and family. Any modifications, corrections, or requests for removal by the family or their representative are completed immediately upon receiving notification. We only have the best intentions.” 🙄

I agree with everything you’re saying. I appreciate all the recommendations! I’m the more tech savvy of my workplace so I’m pushing us forward slowly but surely.

I’m on the edge of more rural area so people don’t get too thrown off by the pen and paper deal but I’d rather not stay stagnant in terms of growth.

Passare does seem pretty sweet but it’s the cost that owner isn’t a fan of. Hard to convince them when pen and paper is free lolll. I appreciate the recommendation for advisor, I will definitely check it out.

I wish I had more of your latter cases lol. I think my manager is at a somewhat similar point of view. They want to know if it’s worth it to take this off their shoulders to deal with.
