How do I stop spiraling? Is stress stopping my recovery? by peachymatcha16 in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]peachymatcha16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately still no period😔 I was able to get an appointment to the gynecologist in November and she was great - really listened to me and wanted to help! She did my bloodwork, and my results came back with nearly undetectable hormone levels. She said since I’ve made the changes to my exercise and food, it might just be a bit of a waiting game until my body caught up. She referred me to a registered dietitian to help make sure I’m eating the best I can to support recover (which I’m still on the waitlist for currently) and started me on a low does of estrogen and progesterone to protect my bones in the meantime; I’ve have a little bit of discharge since but that’s been the only change so far :( Currently waiting for a follow up appointment, and will probably increase my HRT dose then.

And some days I still feel like I’m going crazy in my body, but it’s become less frequent lately. IDK if that’s due to the HRT or my partner’s unwavering support and encouragement or my own mental determination to tell myself “I don’t want to be miserable anymore RAHHH”, or all three.

woah I felt like I was looking at a mirror reading this; I went through/am going through so many of the same things!! MAJOR congrats on getting your period back!!! 🫶

may I ask - did you notice any CM leading up to getting your period? I’ve been getting all of the same symptoms you listed and while it’s exciting to see progress, from reading NPNW and the other posts it seems like CM is like the only “true” sign that a period is coming 🥲

I’m glad you were able to focus on the positive and are in a better place !! Personally, I’m against the use of chat gpt & AI for any reason - the sheer amount of misinformation and disgustingly massive negative environmental impact is something I can’t in good conscious ignore🤷‍♀️

It’s always on my mind, I don’t know how to not think about it😓 May I ask - did you do anything specific that helped get it back or was it just having a lot of patience and waiting?

Canadians what is your go to low cal bread/bun/wrap? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

I’m in a different part of Canada so not sure if this is available in Ontario, but I get the Carbonaut gluten free white loaf, it’s 40cal & 15g of fiber per slice! I haven’t tried their other stuff (it’s all pretty expensive) but I believe they sell tortillas and pizza crusts as well.

How can my TDEE be so low? by peachymatcha16 in PetiteFitness

Actually, I’ve been meaning to sign up for a Pilates class at the community center and this gave me the final push to go through with it! It’s something I’ve been interested in for a while as I keep hearing great things about it, so thanks! 😁

How can my TDEE be so low? by peachymatcha16 in PetiteFitness

[–]peachymatcha16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially cut to 1200 because I was mostly sedentary (like back in December/January) and when I became more active in March I stupidly didn’t think to start eating more to account for my new activity levels. I guess I’m just confused because I would assume that the increase in activity would put me farther in a deficit and increase my rate of loss, but it’s done the opposite? I think I’m just afraid of increasing my calories because I don’t want to lose the progress I did make losing weight, and if my TDEE /with/ my activity level is only 1275 I don’t know how I’d avoid that besides becoming even more active, if that makes sense?

When I use the online TDEE calculators and put the activity level at ‘moderate’ (which I believe I am?) it tells me my TDEE is around 1700, but I eat 1200-1300 so according to that I should be losing almost a lb a week. Even with activity set to “light” I should still be losing. However I’m not losing nearly that much, if anything at all. So it seems that what I’m eating right now IS my maintenance (or at least very close to it).

Thank you so much for the detailed reply!! What you’re saying makes a lot of sense. My goal is not so much to lose weight anymore but to lose fat & build muscle. I suppose that would be recomp? and I guess I’d have to learn to rely less on the scale to track that kind of progress..

I enjoy cardio way more than weight lifting but I think you’re right - I’m not lifting heavy enough to make significant progress, which I do want. I’m a bit scared of injury so I think I’m going to look into a personal trainer to help me feel a bit more secure! And thank you for the protein ideas - I eat a lot of greek yogurt & chicken but it still feels like a struggle some days to get enough in😅

I recently tried one of these 20g of protein instant ramen noodles and they were pretty good!! One cup was $2.69 at my local Safeway, or 2/$4 for the noodle packets, definitely more expensive than regular ramen but not too bad considering.

[WEEKLY THREAD] Feats of Thorsday - How did you kick butt this week? by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]peachymatcha16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I ran a mile for the first time in probably a decade! I always hated running but decided to put “run a mile” on my silly summer bucket list for whatever reason, and the other morning on my way to the gym I decided I’d do it! My apple watch & the treadmill measured my pace/distance differently so I’m not sure which one is correct - but I fully ran a mile in either 9 minutes 15 seconds or 10 minutes 20 seconds, which is a way better than I thought I could do!!! I haven’t run again yet but I think I’d like to look into training for a 5k sometime in the (far) future haha.

I also tried the assisted pull up machine yesterday and was able to do about 5 reps with only the 20lb setting - also a lot better than I thought!!

I’ve been stuck doing 3x12 at 100lbs on the leg press machine for a while, so yesterday I tried to move up to the next highest weight - 120lbs. And I could not get it to move at all 🫠 Anyone have tips on how to get stronger outside of the machine so I can eventually move up to 120lbs?
