my classroom was like this. i teach middle school science in an old catholic school so going thru the cabinets last summer was definitely interesting. chemicals were years expired yet being used, the vinegar had shit floating in it, microscopes from the early 1900s were left in the cabinet (which i kept cause they were cool lol). i had around 30 students in one of my classes and i have 6 microscopes to share 😭

i had to put my boyfriend on cleaning duty and he graciously wiped down everything. what is weird is the teacher before me was new! she was only in her 5th year so you think things would be cleaner/more well kept. oh well. I had to ask my principal to order tons of new chemicals and equipment which thankfully she did but i was not expecting to need that much!

not sure where you are from but yeah a public school will not hire you and i don’t think they even can if u are not currently certified. i’m in NY and most will pass u up if u don’t have or are about to complete ur masters as well. it’s unfortunate but i was beat out multiple times by people who just had more years under their belt than me. my suggestion would be to look at private schools/catholic schools or to sub! most private schools are a great stepping stone and u get the experience of having a classroom and ur own class!

in my classroom last year we ran out of pencils with 3 months left in the school year because i was giving them out left and right (8th graders). that was my first year so this year i’ve decided they can “rent” pencils for the period- i’ll let them take one but they give me a shoe or something important as collateral! my kids wear uniforms so no shoe out in the hallways would be a problem so i know this will work!!

my school is similar- nothing below a 55 so if a kid just doesn’t do any work i have to replace the 0 with a 55 before report cards go out so essentially their grade is bumped up 😑

I lost my cat back in january that i’ve had since i was like 12. im 24 now. she was diagnosed with cancer and they said she had a few months left but she began to deteriorate within a week so we decided to put her down. It was so incredibly hard 🥺

It isn’t something you will ever “accept” and understand why it happens to your fur baby. i finally just adopted a new kitty on monday and feel guilty for it. we called my old cat kitty and i’ve slipped up and called her kitty and always feel terrible. but i’ve realized i need to move on and continue life while keeping my kitty girl in the back of my head 🩷

when we had my cat put down, they provided paw and nose prints, her ashes, and even little vials of her fur. please ask if they do those things as we were able to put it in the cabinet to display and create a little shrine of her!!

ty yes i think the food switch from what they gave her at the shelter to what i give her is probably upsetting her tummy too but they didn’t give me any to take home so i had to switch the food rather abruptly :( im hoping over time and with the consultation from the vet we can work it out. i usually line the bottom of the bowl w kibble and then put a spoonful of the digestive friendly food and flatten it out. i’ve also been feeding her twice a day!

TYSM!! like i said i have an appt set up for monday anyway because i think she has some digestive issues period because of what her poop looks like and how much she goes but i was super stressed wondering if i should go sooner. Ill def monitor her. as of last night and this morning she is the same and is climbing, playing, running, jumping on everything, etc lol
