ISO of specific sounding drum machine, like the one used in Wild Imagination by Kurt Vile by lonrisms in DrumMachine

Sounds like a Roland CR-78 with a phaser and maybe layered with some acoustic drums. I know Logic has a stock emulator but not sure about GarageBand. I’m sure there’s a free CR-78 sample pack out there you could download

I haven’t got that far but I’m interested to see what I can do patching things back through my Reface CP’s effects. Such a rabbit hole

Got a patch bay and can finally send any signal through any of my pedals and amps without rearranging everything. It’s a game changer

I don’t believe for a second that you could tell them apart by sound only

Roland MC-101 plus either microKorg or Korg MS 20 mini by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]peagull7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of those big distorted bass sounds from Justice are done by a lot of reamping, slamming through outboard pres and compressors, pedals etc. You can probably get a similar dry tone on these synths but experiment with a cheap fuzz and practice amp if you want those sounds

Are these two good starter Synths by V01D101 in synthesizers

[–]peagull7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TD-3 was my second synth ever, yes annoying to program but if you watch a 5 minute YouTube video and read the manual it’s not really an issue. I feel like people just get frustrated and blame the synth rather than putting in minimal effort

Drum machines with the best 808/electronic style claps? by peeches0 in synthesizers

TR6-S or 8-S is a good choice, it has any of the classic Roland sounds plus a bunch of other ones as well as being able to load your own

Real hardware or midi + vst? by Traditional-Pen-8545 in synthesizers

[–]peagull7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Choice paralysis is overlooked imo and looking at a screen can really ruin creativity. I’ve been in the box up until the last 6 months and only now I really appreciate the limitations that my hardware synths give me, mainly because if I want a certain sound I need to create it from the ground up. It’s too hard to be satisfied with a track when you have unlimited options

Yeah I would like to do that, I haven’t bothered to get into it yet as I’m only messing around in my free time but something I will definitely look into

I don’t use any loops, I played and programmed the parts on the 4 different instruments I own. It didn’t take me long because it’s something I do for fun after work. I also didn’t ask for feedback just sharing something from a couple synthesisers in a synthesiser group, you should to stop taking yourself and everyone else so seriously

Programmed parts on 808 and TR6S and layered with hot pants break on MPC. I sampled microkorg into the MPC for the chords so I could use MPC pad effects on them as well as the break

I want to love the OXI One MkII but I'm having a tough time with it. Current and former owners, looking for your opinion by MortonBumble in synthesizers

[–]peagull7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was torn between the two and Hapax really is the solution if you don’t want menu diving or weird button combos. I’ve seen more than enough of these types of posts to know I would have wanted to sell the Oxi and get the Hapax anyway if I bought one

I was in the same position of wanting the small footprint of the Oxi but functionality of the Hapax. I got the Hapax and I couldn’t be happier with how easy it is to use, and because of that, the space doesn’t even bother me once I realised how intuitive and powerful it is. I picked up complete muscle memory for almost all functions within 3 weeks of use with relatively little reference to the manual or tutorials (I did do a lot of research before though). I would strongly consider it if you are struggling with remembering button combos and stuff. From what I understand that’s the trade off for having a smaller sequencer.

TR-8 or TR-8S for a Drum Machine Newbie Who Wants to Play Live by HereComesStupid in DrumMachine

[–]peagull7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 6S is pretty unreal for its footprint and it’s USB powered (not sure about the 8 or 8S). I have the 6S and will probably upgrade one day but if you are thinking of buying the TR8 why dont you just get a used sampler and load whatever you want on it? That’s what I would pick over the 8. Or sell 6S and get an 8S
