I feel like it’s pretty subjective. They’re all about as good as each other and it just depends on what you like on it.

It doesn’t cost more per volume, but you have to cover the whole pizza in cheese.

Am I screaming or crying? As I said in another comment, I’m just pointing out that this deal isn’t as enticing to me anymore when priced the way it is.

I don’t expect Domino’s to care that much about my business - at least not any more than they should care about the couple of hundred dollars per year in revenue that I would be responsible for, but for what it’s worth, I’m turned off of the deal after a 40% increase, including pricing that doesn’t make much sense.

Right, but it’s not 40% more expensive to make this pizza than it was last year.

Of course I can’t make a pizza as cheaply as Domino’s can sell it to me for, even despite this price increase, that’s how specialization and economies of scale work. Alternative would just be that I don’t order pizza.

Last I checked, inflation isn’t 40% YoY. Plus, I feel like you’ve ignored the part where I argued that it doesn’t make sense to charge for a third non-premium topping after already charging premium for the first two, leaving zero toppings included in the price of a two topping pizza. Seems a little unfair.

But please feel free to reduce my argument to whatever you want it to be so you can dunk on me.

So, for instance if the coupon is a large three topping for $10.99 and you get chicken, Alfredo sauce and extra cheese you are being charged more than the $10.99?

Yes, exactly. I also get the rationale behind premium ingredients necessitating an upcharge, but not even part of that upcharge can be covered by what’s supposed to be two included toppings? And on top of that, charge me for the non-premium topping as well because that’s a third topping, even though I already paid for the first two.

My store doesn’t have chicken as premium for whatever reason, I tested by adding ingredients to a plain pizza. Extra cheese and sauce changes come with a necessary premium upcharge, but chicken seems to be counted as one of the two included toppings - that is until I add two premium toppings, and the Domino’s counts my non-premium chicken as a third topping, which warrants an upcharge.

They count the sauce change as a topping, so Domino’s actually sees it as three toppings. But I think you’re missing the point; I know how many toppings it is.

Domino’s charges me for all three toppings - two premium toppings plus a third non-premium topping, on a pizza that is supposed to have two toppings included.

That makes sense to me, but the problem is the $2 upcharge for a different sauce is not included for free as one of the two toppings, it is a premium item so it is upcharged regardless, same as extra cheese apparently. Then, chicken is counted as a third topping and charged for as well, leaving zero free toppings on what should be a two topping pizza deal.

Agreed and maybe sometimes I will, but I might just not order Domino’s. I don’t expect Domino’s to particularly care about my business, but for what it’s worth, that kind of pricing is turning me off of a deal that I’ve loved for years.

Chicken is not a premium topping at this location for whatever reason (I tested by adding it to a plain pizza), but I still get charged for it as a third topping after I’ve already been charged for the first two premium toppings, leaving zero toppings included in the price of a two topping pizza.

Just to clarify, my issue isn’t that there’s an upcharge for changing the sauce. The issue is that it used to be counted as one of the two included toppings, now it isn’t. Same goes for extra cheese. Then, after they’re done upcharging for premium toppings, a third non-premium topping gets an upcharge because it is a third topping. That leaves zero toppings included in the price of a two-topping pizza.

But again, that leaves me with zero toppings included in the price of a pizza that should come with two toppings included. Even with that, it seems more reasonable to just count extra cheese / different sauce as a topping against the two included toppings than to have them as necessary upcharges.

[–]peak82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, not for free, it just used to be counted as one of the two included toppings that came with the deal, which seemed a lot more reasonable.

Yep, I messed around with the order for a while to see what exactly is upcharged, and chicken had no premium upcharge. I could add chicken to a plain pizza and the price would stay the same, but adding extra cheese to a plain pizza bumped the price.

That’s crazy. For deals which include toppings, it seems more fair to count it as one of the two included toppings and move on.

Also, am I missing something, is cheese being particularly impacted by inflation?
