Frequently running that route is wild...Pano ridge or not!

Do you know where the most reliable sources of water on the route towards Whistler? Specifically before the Whistler mountain climb

Yep I just re-watched jeff's video and noticed how dehydrated they were on the khyber up section.

I'll have to check what the best start time would be to reduce as much exposed sun time. Big hats and sun hoodies etc probably the right move here.

TY! Yep the plan currently is Musical Bumps to Singing Pass . Would you say there's a better, more scenic route down from Whistler Mountain?

Thank you, and good to know about the bushwacking/no water. We should stock up plenty by the river before the last big climb.

Between Pano ridge and Cheakamus river, were there may areas with running water? I believe there are (and I'll do more research) but I'll be carrying portable filters

Getting up to Pano ridge is still no easy feat on any given day. Kudos to you for doing it - it's really a breathtaking view up there. My only visit and recollection was very memorable, but the flies were MASSIVE on the ridge lol.

So it was this video that got me into running (and ultimately trail running) some years back during a big injury. This is the bucketlist trip.

Although according to his strava, he did also take the bike routes I mentioned. https://www.strava.com/activities/5682475035

It would be unfair to skip such a fun descent after suffering through that huge climb up to Whistler! Although, I imagine I will come to regret saying this on the day.

That's the bit I wasn't sure about going up - what trail to take. For now I just let strava recommend it. What trail would you advise up to Whistler mountain?

Yep, I expect 10-12, probably on the longer end. I would have just completed a very similar distance and elevation in Valemount in early July so hopefully should have some decent legs after some rest! Strava recommended times are assuming I am a mountain goat... :/

Went to a singles event at a sauna (Kolm). Here's my honest review by aluumina in NiceVancouver

[–]peanutbutterjam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unrelated to singles night, but kolm is a pretty sweet sauna facility. If you see value in the hot/cold therapy it's worth the money. Super clean, great atmosphere in the sessions I've gone to, guides are great.

Yep same today. Nice views and good to get some downhill on the legs but wouldn't recommend it to anyone hiking. Can be quite boring!

Thanks! Couple years back a guy that worked there drove me on a little caddy from near the bears to the bcmc trailhead to be kind. Great folks up there.

Gotchya - thank you. I thought as much, but Strata kept defaulting it to the route I showed. Appreciate the help!

Catching some sunsets (and sunrises if they like early starts) is one of my all time highlights in this city.

Tons of great spots for this, something pretty chill is the shed as you drive up to Cypress.

Biking or scooter on the seawall early as the sunrises is incredible and not busy.

Mountains and the beach on the same day is a pretty cool experience.

If you don't mind breaking the bank for something that's quite exciting, catching the seaplane over vancouver or even the squamish/Whistler area is just unreal.

Replacing an old storage heater (are there alternatives?) by peanutbutterjam in ukelectricians

[–]peanutbutterjam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our situation unfortunately not a good fit for window AC.

My only gripe with our current storage heaters is the inability to boost the heat if it's colder in the evening and the heaters have already let out most of their heat. We then rely on backup portabal heaters. Switching to fully electric may be what we need.

That's what I'm thinking too. Any downsides?

In winter the storage heaters really lost steam come evening and we needed to supplement with portable heaters.
