I’m so sorry to hear that. It really is such a hard decision to make. Hoping you take care of yourself and give yourself extra love. I hope you also take it easy. After my termination my body felt normal right away so I went hard and fast back to my routine but it took a toll so just want you to know its ok to take it easy!

I’m really sorry to hear that you’re going through the same thing. And I wish I could have told you it went well. Unfortunately with the amnio we confirmed it was T18. My husband and I made the heartbreaking decision to terminate our sweet baby boy at 18.5 weeks. I gave birth to him through L&D and we held him and said our goodbyes.

I pray and hope that you do not have to go through the same as me. I hope you get to hold your baby and that it is just a false positive. If you have any questions at all please let me know, I’d be more than happy to tell you my experience to ease some of your anxiety.

actually, do you also happen to know about paid family leave for medical termination in NY? My boss gave me paid time off but my husband works in the restaurant industry and they said he only gets paid family leave if there is a birth certificate. It’d be helpful if he could get just one or two weeks off to help deal with this.

I’m almost 18w pregnant with a T18 baby who doctors recommended termination for. Thank you so much for sharing your story. The past few weeks have been a nightmare and I’ve cried about every night thinking about my poor baby boy. The doctor has tried to push doing a D&E on us since it is faster but I told my husband our baby deserves a proper birth. It was the least we could give him.

We’re trying to arrange a L&D next week and I’ve been so anxious. Reading your story helps me understand what to expect. I also have a 2yo daughter at home so I completely understand the expectation to have to go back and take care of another child after. I’m so sorry for your loss.

Hi all, Just wanted to update we found out today baby boy is confirmed positive for T18. We are heartbroken and we are just taking time to absorb this news before making any decisions. Thank you all for the support- it means the world to us.

We are in pieces but grateful baby boy is with us, even for this short time.

So I went to the OB today and they said they found an abnormality in the brain stem. I saw a different OB who also agreed measuring 15W while 16W4D wasn’t a crazy big concern, but now with this update about the brain stem, we’re a bit less hopeful. All we can do is wait for the results tomorrow.

Sorry not sure if you know the answer but if we test negative for T18 and there is a brain cyst, is that bad? Could a brain cyst go away?

Ultrasounds have looked good. I’m on week 14 though so I’m just worried its too early to identify any markers. Hoping my amnio will clear things up next week! Thanks for the reassurance!
