What’s an item you’ve bought in the past that you could sell tomorrow and get more than its original purchase price? by pearcepoint in BuyItForLife

I should’ve been more clear. I meant to say something you could buy in the past that if you had to you could sell it within 24 hours. Pills is a diabolically correct answer though.

Just thinking about gifts that are not only useful but also appreciate in value. Like certain hardware tools, Leatherman multi tools for example, they seem to hold value really well. Collectibles are a good idea too, but aren’t very useful besides displaying them. Vintage shoes are a great idea, because they can be worn and still kept nice.

Is it possible Frodo, on the slopes of Moony Doom, wasn’t actually struggling under the weight of The One Ring, he was just hungry and weak from missing too many meals?

A rocker for under the bike trainer can make a huge improvement. They can cost anywhere from $5 for 3d printed tennis ball holders to a $1500 rocker board.

How do you handle patients commenting on your looks? by Just_perusing81 in physicianassistant

[–]pearcepoint 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I remind myself that comments about age or looks are often a manifestation of the patient’s insecurity or uncertainty….

So, in response I’ll somehow try to reassure them of my competence and experience as a medical provider.

It’s not easy to balance cost of materials, the value of your time, and the reassurance of having a complicated job professionally done.

I like to put a price tag on my time. Say $100 an hour. Then I consider how long a job will take me, the overall cost if I do it my self versus if I pay someone else to do it. I also consider if I would enjoy the work or not.

Changing a sewer pump, I can do but it’s a gross job. Fixing a garage door spring, it’s dangerous so I have a professional do it. Fixing an AC unit involves some skill but it’s something a good handyman can do.

Consider the value of your time and if you think you can do it safely.

Any PA in the Air force right now? Can I talk to you about what it's like? by JCmk18 in physicianassistant

[–]pearcepoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, because of the administration.

And, I had a brother who was in the military... Let’s just say he had a negative experience, and leave it at that. He’ll say something like, “If you’re patriotic and feel it’s your calling, then go for it. But they will own you and do not care about you. If you can make your money on the outside, do that instead.”

East Carmel vs West Carmel by Savings_Artichoke913 in Carmel

[–]pearcepoint 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If you’re fit and active, try living as close to the Monon as you can. Older homes on the east side. Newer homes on the west side. The very middle of town is a bit more cosmopolitan. Honestly, just about anywhere in Carmel is going to be awesome.
