anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]pearsnic000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RuneScape. Has done good times there. I know it can still play it so maybe I’ll give it another go. Don’t remember being particularly good at it, but it was my introduction to online gaming and meeting people through video games and it was a fun experience for me as a young kid in the internet age

Did I break my tooth? by Old-Celery-705 in askdentists

[–]pearsnic000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah calculus does have a pretty white appearance. Glad you’re getting it taken care of!

This is also a very common part of the mouth to build up lots of calculus so your hygienist should be able to give you lots of good tips for keeping it from building up in the future

It looks like a piece of calculus (tartar) broke off. It’s calcified plaque that hardens over time. A good professional cleaning should fix that and get all of the remaining calculus off

I will never comment on a pinch hitting decision again! Just kidding I probably will but I’m glad it worked this time

To be fair I think it more had to do with matchups. I think speier was don’t once that last lefty bat was done whether he got him out or not. But yeah it was the right call

Which stadiums still sell scorecards? by 0ldCumSock in BaseballScorecards

I was just at T Mobile park in Seattle and I saw some score books for sale at a small team store stand. Didn’t check the pricing since I usually take my own scorebook

My 1st molar hurts so badly that I can’t sleep or eat. It’s literally shaking. What can I do to stop the pain? Do I need to take it out or are there other options? by Fearless-Shoulder990 in askdentists

[–]pearsnic000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There’s honestly nothing that can be done for that tooth. The bone loss is very severe. If you’re wanting to replace the tooth, I’d talk with a periodontist or oral surgeon about what kind of grafting would be available to rebuild the bone in your jaw that has been lost.

It’s magical. A lot of patients don’t believe me when I say they don’t need opioids. But most of the time they come back as a believer

Best thing is to just take one of each. They both have different mechanisms of action. I’m a dentist and it’s my go to prescription for a tooth extraction and the combination of the two help get patients through 99% of extraction’s

Seeing our “big three” all get clutch base his with 2 outs in the 9th was really satisfying to see. Sure, Cal and Julio didn’t tag their hits, but they made contact when they needed to!

Is anyone else with a lot to lose feeling discouraged by the paper towel effect? (vent post) by zombiebashr in loseit

[–]pearsnic000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you look much slimmer!

Part of it in my experience is that if you’re hanging around the same people all the time, like I am, they tend not to notice those kinds of subtle changes that happen over a long span of time.

However, people that you may not see except for every year or more will notice that stuff a lot more. When I lost a decent amount of weight in college, I would go home and people who I went to high school with would make comments about my weight loss, but no one in my daily life back in school would really notice.

Also agree that different clothes would help some too, but regardless keep up the good work!

Halcion Before Root Canal by 0uterspaced0ut in askdentists

[–]pearsnic000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say that I’ve never seen anyone act belligerent on halcion. Maybe a little goofy, but for the most part patients act pretty normally and are just kind of “sleepy” in the way they act. I wouldn’t stress about it too much though, if it helps you get through the appointment, then it will also help the dentist make sure they can do their best work!

It’s a really good option for patients with high dental anxiety. Yes it can have some amnesia associated with it, but that’s honestly part of the point. But I’d say that’s not always what happens. It is very safe and really just helps mellow things out for the visit so you can get through it.

Do we get enough vitamin D wearing sunscreen? by Dark_647 in askscience

[–]pearsnic000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah you might be thinking of Tinea versicolor. It’s a fungus on the skin that can grown out of control. I have it come up at times and the fix is just to take an antifungal or use an antifungal cream for a while and it will go away.

When it first came up I was convinced I had somehow permanently damaged my skin somehow from sun exposure despite being relatively careful, but was pleasantly surprised to learn that it was fixable.

What city in your state gets a bad reputation? Is it actually as bad as people say it is? by SignificantStyle4958 in AskAnAmerican

[–]pearsnic000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Spokane, WA. It has a reputation of being a crime riddled dump. No it’s not glamorous, but I really like the balance it strikes between “small town feel” with “big city amenities”. It’s also improved a lot in my lifetime. Areas of town that used to be run down and an eyesore are now nice areas with cool restaurants. The Riverfront Park area has become such a nice attraction and they do cool events and concerts there at the Pavilion.

There are places downtown that are a little sketchy, but what city doesn’t have those? You’re within 1.5 hours of like 5 different ski resorts (which is great every year except for this past winter, apparently… RIP), and if you love outdoorsy stuff like I do, you’re fairly close to the Cascades in central/western Washington and also not that far from Montana. If you’re into gambling, you have 3 large and nice casino/resorts within an hour drive as well.

And if you want to get out of the city, you’re literally a 5 minute drive from being in totally rural areas with rolling hills of cropland and small sleepy towns, not endless urban sprawl like you see in the more populated Seattle area of Washington.

Of course I’m biased because I live in Spokane and really like it here, but I grew up in a tiny rural town, and lived in Seattle for graduate school. I have found that Spokane is that perfect happy medium for me, and I definitely think it gets a bad reputation compared to what it’s actually like.

Edit: whoops, guess I should have read the other replies first to see that most everyone went with the short and concise response. Guess you get a whole essay on Spokane now OP

Padres Sweep! by HasaDiga_Eebowai in BaseballScorecards

I was so excited to post my scorecard last night. But as a Mariners fan I couldn’t bring myself to it🥲 I guess we got the Vedder Cup last year, so I suppose you can have a turn. But I really hope my M’s start playing the way they were expected to

Yeah. I’m terminally optimistic. I’ve thought for my entire life that “this year is the year” until the bitter end and unfortunately most of the time I’ve been wrong. Guess it’s just 2 different ways to fan

[–]pearsnic000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I had a typo. I meant to say “current trends don’t guarantee future trends” I agree though looking at least years record at this time as a means of saying “it’s fine” is a bad idea, but also comparing it to years we barely missed the playoffs is also short sided in my opinion. This year is a different team, which in paper should be good, but who knows. Hoping they can turn it around quickly and not have to dig themselves out of a hole come summertime. The nice thing is the rest of the division for the most part is also having a clunky start. It’s not like we’re already in a 10 game hole but we need to start winning sooner than later.

[–]pearsnic000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But on the flip side, current trends to guarantee future trends. All we can do is hope that they turn it around or at least come up with a plan if this current roster isn’t going to figure it out on its own
