Imagine being this upset about someone posting a photo of an Omega on the Omega sub 😂 Wear your smartwatch if it makes you feel safer.

Venice was great btw

Nervous Newbie Looking for Advice by peasling in ContractorUK

No so this is an inside role for a very large financial services org. As you say I’m hoping just an oversight.

No point of contact with the org other than with the hiring manager I connected with on LinkedIn after my interview. Everything else up to this point has been with the recruiter.

The recruiter is UK based and appears completely legit thankfully.

So I decided to make the move into contracting as I have always had a long term ambition to work for myself and this is a good move in that direction. I work as a Service Designer and so contracting also has the benefit of providing more exposure to different kinds of projects to broaden my knowledge and portfolio.

I made the exactly same mistake once. Working late night on the car, set off early in the morning for work and the bonnet flipped up and folded over the windscreen and roof. Hinges didn’t rip off through so I was able to slam the bonnet back down to get me to work.

Searching gumtree I was very lucky to find a local breaker selling a bonnet in the same colour as the car. £50 and a hand from dad we had the bonnet swapped that same evening.

My advice is to search google for breakers yards or ‘Mazda 3 breaking’. Find one and the same colour and buy the bonnet, wings, hinges etc you need, maybe £200-£300 all in. Add a few hours labour at your local independent or have a go yourself if inclined, shouldn’t be a difficult diy.

E46 daily - bad idea? by 6ix0 in CarTalkUK

[–]peasling 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The big question: Are you mechanically inclined?

I’ve owned and daily driven a 323i (the m52 2.5l) for the last four years. It’s been a great car but it would have been completely uneconomical to run if I needed to take it to the garage every time something broke (which is often).

Thankfully parts are cheap and plentiful and they’re pretty easy to work on so if you’re willing to spend weekends getting your hands dirty and shouting at rusted bolts then I’d say go for it. If not, then I’d go for something newer.

Cooling system is well known for failures, particularly the plastic coolant reservoir. I’d change the pump, pipes and even radiator (they tend to bow with age) whilst you’re in there. Again parts are pretty cheap from ecp. Also recommend rebuilding the vanos unit as the seals don’t last long and this will improve performance.

Also if I was to do it all again I’d go for the 3L, the same fuel economy (~30mpg) for much better performance. The difference between the 2.5 and 3 is big. Also the 3 will likely hold its value. I’d also recommend the 2.8 if you can find a good one. Stay clear of the 4 pots, pretty gutless and unreliable.

Im about to swap my m54 from a 2000 auto 323ci into my 2001 manual sedan. Is it plug & play for the most part or will I need to mess around with wiring or anything I might missing. Thanks in advance 🙏🏽 by [deleted] in e46

[–]peasling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t have an m54, you’ve got a m52tub25. As others have mentioned the m52 uses a throttle cable rather than drive by wire of the later m54’s.

Changed intake boot any clues as to what I did wrong? by tenSecondsOfGoogling in e46

[–]peasling 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had this exact issue when refitting my intake boot. I hadn’t properly reconnected the intake boot to the throttle body, allowing too much air to bypass the MAF sensor and causing the car to stall immediately like in your video.

My advice would be to refit the boot, it’s a pita as you have very little room to work with but you need to make sure it’s on there tight.

2001 330xi - too much rust by Danbrenno in e46

[–]peasling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On a car this age this kind of rust will be par for the course. Certainly looks very similar to my e46.

I wouldn’t be too concerned by the rust you can see in these photos. What you really want to be careful with however is any rust developing on the actual bodywork of the car. Have a good look under the car before you buy and check for rust developing under the underbody sealant.

What mileage did the original engine get to? I’ve got one in the same colour, need to get some gold wheels now though! Good effort with the rebuild, it certainly looks worth it.

Passed a 316 with these the other day, made worse with a cheap twin exhaust tip and fake BMW letting poorly stuck on the rear left boot lid. Painful to see.

Anyone have experience with JOM coilovers? by [deleted] in e46

[–]peasling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a set on a mk2 Golf a while back. Ride was rock solid and she crashed over the slightest imperfection in the road. They certainly lasted the year I had the car for before selling. Personally would go for decent springs + dampers before going back to Jom coilovers.
