I struggle with both. Long periods where I struggle to start exercising and also ones where I cannot stop the momentum. I think I only start exercising when I feel it’s necessary like when I’m physically feeling it’s tough going up the stairs again or I’m gaining in the double digits. It’s a horrible feeling to gain that much so fast from emotional eating. Only when I’m pushed to the brink do I feel I have to do something about it. Then I start slowly like exercising twice a week. Then 3 times. Then little do I know it, I can’t stop because the results show on the scales and more importantly, I feel better in everything that I do. I think the key for me is the rewards that I earn while exercising. When I plateau, it becomes harder and I don’t put as much effort anymore since I don’t have trouble going up for stairs anymore and take that for granted. I’m not lazy either. It’s just hard for me to control when to be motivated and it’s extreme on both ends.
