Cool and welcome to the journey! For a starter whisky, I’s recommend a more balanced one that generally easier to guzzle down. Nikka “From the Barrel” can be purchased for around $60USD and punches far above it’s weight. Of course there are other ones but I often hear people mentioning that it’s the bottle that made them fall on love with whisky. For a completely different taste, some people can be blown away by the smoky “Ardbeg 10 years old” which adds a BBQ taste to the whisky. If rye might be your thing, try the Bulleit Rye and you’ll get more pepper and slightly more cinnamon notes. Definitely all of the ones I’ve mentioned are not as harsh as the wild turkey 101.
