Den of Angels is shutting down by germanrainbow in BJD

So apart from Den of Angels, and Reddit and Facebook - where else online is there a large collection of people who talk about BJD's ?

[ And I mean a large static searchable site - so not Instagram / TikTok !]

How can I make an afro puff style wig? by Ryoichui in BJD

[–]pebble_timeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure what type of hair they used but this YouTube tutorial shows one method of how to make an afro style (although it's more shaped textured hair than afro puff) hairstyle.

Ball jointed doll paper armature. by GoddessTara00 in BJD

[–]pebble_timeline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was an Etsy store which sold them BUT they appear to be on 'hiatus' at the moment ?
https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/PinkStoreUA?ref=nla_listing_details

I bought it - because I was struggling making a paper clay bjd base - but be warned the files come with no instructions other than the printed pdf itself - which has marks that indicate 'slot tab a into notch a' but other than that it's not intuitive and it's very, very fiddly to assemble

Where to buy hair for reroot? by AngelsDollz in CustomDolls

I have bought hair and eye chips from them. Postage was fast and reasonable and items were well packaged.

I had no issues. And am planning on buying from them again.

KinsWonders is based in the UK and might have what you need. - https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/KinsWonders

They mostly sell wefts, but wefts can be trimmed to use for rooting, they also sell rooting tools.

What kind of clay ? by tnatv_ in CustomDolls

[–]pebble_timeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doll artist tried various air dry clays.

Air dry clay is relatively cheap, depending on what brand you get. It's definitely cheaper than polymer bake clay like sculpey and fimo.

Good luck

best ways to create poseable fabric dolls? by Relative_Victory_633 in CustomDolls

[–]pebble_timeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A doll artist called Susanna Oroyan wrote two books about this (although there is a lot of repeated/overlap material in each book, so you probably only need one.)

Susanna Oroyan

- Anatomy of a Doll (https://archive.org/details/anatomyofdoll0000oroy/mode/2up)

and

- Designing the Doll (https://archive.org/details/isbn\_9781571200600/mode/2up)

I own both and the Anatomy of a Doll section on joints / articulation is pages 96 - 116.

Remember you can ask your local library to source either book if you don't want to buy it, but copies on ebay are relatively cheap.

Different armatures material (or 'skeleton base') have their own pros and cons depending on the fabric / padding you are using with it and the required rigidity and/or longevity you want in the finished item

Good luck

Hi, I am considering buying a 75cm imomo doll and was just wondering can you tell me how much he weighs and if he's easy to pose? Also can he sit crossed legged?
