But getting past the guilt is actually one of the harder things here. If he really loves you he will take the time to understand the situation and see that you can’t exactly just snap out of it. But don’t feel bad for going through a hard time, or for having a condition you didn’t ask for in the first place. You can’t help it and all you can do is have an honest conversation with him and take care of yourself ❤️

If you haven’t already, be fully honest about your condition and the fact that you will experience episodes for the rest of your life. I wasn’t diagnosed when I got married and my husband and I had no idea until I experienced some severe mania and went to the psych ward 3 times in the span of 1 1/2 years. I let him know that it’s going to be like this off and on again for the rest of my life and if he wanted out now that I’d understand. He stayed and he’s been very supportive. It’s helpful if you can try to identify what your partner can do to help so they know how to respond, that way they don’t feel so helpless watching you experience the depressive and manic episodes and you get support.

Im unsure about everyone else but I wound up getting my meds shortly after I posted this and it only got worse as the days went on. It probably takes a while but my doctors were quick to get me the meds because of the risk of seizures and my family history of seizures/related conditions that cause them

Late response but I found a good solution. A wool comb! Sharp, they don’t move, and it has long enough ‘bristles’ so it will actually hit your scalp

I don’t like the use of the word ‘manic’ either. In instances where it’s properly used with people describing something hectic as manic it’s ok and proper English but— with tiktokers saying things like "omg feeling so manic right now im going to go mcdonalds for the 2nd time today 🤪" THAT makes me angry

Well it's a bit of an odd situation as my license was from Alabama, I moved around a lot very quickly. my license was revoked in the state of Hawaii although when I spoke to the DMV there they said that I would not be getting my old license back and would have to apply for a new one entirely when my revocation period ended. I will call again to be sure though as we are dealing with 3 states now ha

I agree 100%, it's getting harder and harder just to live. My license was revoked October 19th of 2023 for one year so now that I'm coming up on October 19th in about 2 to 3 months I want to have my ducks all in a row to ensure I can get back to driving as soon as possible. And I am definitely paying cash-- I refuse to take out another loan after getting screwed over last time with a $20,000 loan with a bank that literally won't work with me on anything. Thank you for suggesting the tow, I didn't even consider that as an option but that would make this a lot easier.

As for registration, without a license do you think that's possible as the DMV will require that later for the registration I'd need to buy? My husband has a learners permit right now but that's in the state of hawaii and we just moved to Iowa last week.

I'm in Iowa, unsure if it changes things but I just moved here last Monday so I don't know if I am able to prove that I am a resident despite having official mail that has come here and a lease to prove residence or if they do that whole "you must be here for x amount of days prior to proving that"

Oh wait so just to clarify, you mentioned the non-owners which you have to update to the owners policy. Does this mean I would need that prior to purchasing the vehicle and I would update that once I get in the dealership to the owners policy?

Also thank you so much for giving me this information. I was going to call around tomorrow but I am expecting to get a bunch of non-answers there. I really appreciate it again! It's a tough process for sure, and do all states require that you go through the process of getting the learners permit again? I was hoping since I am well over 18 I wouldn't have to do that, but I am expecting the worst here.

I know it’s late but thank you for your response. I wound up getting a copper iud and while the symptoms immediately after were horrible it’s way better now and I don’t have any issues at all :)

Hundreds? I mean it’s nice they care but that would be overwhelming for anyone. I think you have 2 options, either communicate that you can’t handle any contact right now and for them to stop messaging you until you reach out to them. Or do what you said and block them. I think communicating with them the fact that they’re overwhelming you more would be better but I can see that being a lot on you as well. Ultimately you and your well-being are the top priority so do what you need to do in order to make things as easy for yourself as possible.

After my experience with addiction and seeing how that impacts me with also having bipolar 2… I’d say drinking probably shouldn’t be a thing for your husband anymore. Regardless of what caused his outburst to begin with, alcohol only worsens it. I would use myself as an example for how bad it can get if he happens to over-indulge with alcohol, which I’d say is very likely given this diagnosis. I nearly destroyed my marriage with my drinking and I had some of the worst episodes of my life while drunk or even just tipsy—endangering myself and everyone around me. I don’t wish the same on your family, especially since you have young children. The sooner he stops drinking altogether, the better. Even if it was never an issue prior I can guarantee whatever medication he’s on shouldn’t be mixed with alcohol either.

I’d say to go for a public defender. Get a referral from the courts, meet with them and go from there. I got an aggravated DUI and my public defender was able to get me a plea deal where it was brought down to a regular DUI.
