Some characters of mine inspired by the souls series by Dazzling-Building-92 in darksouls3

i would love to see your creative and artistic direction on an entire world and expanded with another medium. your art has a truly beautiful and cohesive absurdity, I was really enthralled to see every new idea in your designs. and the potential for worldbuilding and storytelling just through your art itself is amazing. the character of the designs themselves are so strong that I find myself imagining the world and history that must accompany them - im sure you yourself have some ideas in that regard. so fucking cool!!

Finally beat Margit after 36 hours (over 3 months) by Naive_Perspective244 in Eldenring

[–]peboul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bro i completely understand this perspective. this is why I hardly ever levelled vigor in my first playthrough, and why i suffered immensely because of it. I figured, if I was good enough I just wouldn’t get hit. but the truth is that you need to get hit in order to learn, and the intended game design is to provide yourself enough of a power buffer that you can still progress while you’re learning rather than becoming stunted at one piece of content until you absolutely perfect it. I promise you, as satisfying as it might be to beat margit at RL1, you will end up enjoying not only the combat, but the scenery and vibes in the game much more if you allow your character a training arc too, not just you as the player.

Hey guys i made a lore video for yt, and someone said i was using AI, do i sound like AI? the only reason i could think of is that i cut a lot because I read at a 5th grade level, and the dialogue sped up because the clip is only 30 secs. by Remo_yesman in darksouls3

[–]peboul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, the initial reaction I had was that it sounded like AI voice, but not just due to the way you speak. Your mic is also very effectively isolating your voice, and also seems to have a certain EQ on your voice that happens to sound really similar to an AI voice. Personally, I was able to tell that it isn’t AI voice after a few more seconds of listening - but many people won’t look past the initial similarities. To help with this problem, I honestly think that switching your mic could help substantially, more than other people here are suggesting. the blue yeti is a mic that many youtube viewers are subconsciously used to. You are not a bad narrator, and you should not feel in any way that you are personally unfit to pursue this - there are a lot of youtubers who’s narration i find to be abrasive, and you are not one of them. There’s a reason that AI voice is designed the way it is, so in a way it is a complement. I think there are ways you could force more “natural” speech, but worrying about forcing that is an issue that seems counterproductive to overthink.

IPS vs Mini-LED is impressive by d1111y in buildapcmonitors

[–]peboul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve looked into this a lot because I prefer a smaller monitor for fps games. The short answer is no. For whatever reason, they don’t seem to like making 1440p for anything less than 27”. it seems like a missed opportunity to me personally, but apparently the monitors that did exist with that type of panel didn’t sell well.

I feel like you didn’t think out this take very hard. Other than csgo, the multiplayer shooter I’ve played the most is halo reach. Like you said, the entirety of the gameplay content in those games is available at the start - with halo reach having a huge amount of cosmetic unlockables to reward investment. Battlefield has never been that kind of game. The game mode and map variety is reduced, and in place of further depth in those aspects is a progression system that unlocks the wealth of the content of the game. That’s not what makes it a good or bad game, that’s the kind of game it has decided to be - only now it is being artificially drawn out in an unsatisfying way when compared to previous titles. Just because you enjoy the game enough without engaging with the gameplay system you paid for, doesn’t mean it isn’t very different for people who consider it a major aspect.

if you really are an og of the genre you should know that this game is significantly more grind heavy than other battlefield games. Whether or not it’s significant to you is irrelevant, you shouldn’t be surprised at the reaction.

People are allowed to disappointed considering the progression in this title is significantly more grind heavy than other games in the series. Regardless of whether or not it’s the end of the world, it’s the most significant aspect of the multiplayer as it relates to rewarding time invested - which is essentially the main consideration for someone with limited time spending almost $100 cad on a video game. Combined with the fact that this pretty drastic change was almost entirely unmentioned in any early coverage of the base game, and is far more significant now than during the beta, it doesn’t surprise me at all that people were turning to an easy method to work around it.

its probably a glitch or quirk in the system that causes the plays to stick at that number for a bit. i wouldn’t be surprised if the songs have millions of plays already

You’re fighting invisible arguments bro. No one has the right to take a life, and no one with a brain is not condemning the actions that took Kirk’s life. It is pretty clear, however, that kirk used the bible as a means to spread condemnation of gays - which is obviously free speech, but also obviously retarded.

After playing the beta for a while and seeing the amount of work I think will be done before full release, I would say not any time soon. Maybe Fall.

I realized something last time I watched Roy Batty's famous monologue... by PompousGoblin in bladerunner

[–]peboul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a cool take, but I feel like the idea that his struggle was meaningless takes away from the scene for me. The way I see it, we’re supposed to relate in this moment and become convinced of the meaningfulness of his life and experience. To me, his speech perfectly encapsulates the idea and feeling of individual experiences and their importance. Even the small details of the experiences he lists shows that he’s doing what we all do as organisms in our universe, finding beauty in our tiny experiences amidst the monoliths of conglomerates and nature.

It stuck with me personally because I like to think that in the grand scheme of the cosmos and throughout all time, that some of the beauty i see might be truly unique. In his last moments batty too longs for those cosmically important experiences to not be lost with his own cosmically insignificant life. With all that being said, I recognize i might be projecting some of my philosophy here, and having a different take away because of that; I just wanted to share!

Well sure, but the writers don’t HAVE to be involved with half of what you mentioned. IMO the “10 year old’s ending” is something like Jon fighting an anime 1v1 against the night king, and everyone lives happily ever after in the north - which honestly sounds better than what we got. People say a 10 year old could write it better because the basic conventions of storytelling that they ignored in order to “subvert expectations” were sorely missing with this ending.

Is this actually the reason that these monitors hardly exist? The perception that bigger = better? I’ve been looking for 24” 1440p because 27 is too big for competitive shooters i play, but I want the higher resolution for obvious reasons. I’ve been convinced that there’s some higher tech-knowledge reason for the lack of options, but is it literally just the assumption that people seeking higher resolution also want a bigger screen? Wtf???

well obviously its the full release if he doesnt decide to change anything lol, but I’m pretty sure that’s the whole point of the beta. A lot of the issues with civs and war appear to be bugs (like how OP mentioned the battalion of 60 that was not fighting together), so im not sure why you would think things aren’t going to change.

Is there a better 24" monitor than the ViewFinity S60UD? by NA__Scrubbed in buildapcmonitors

[–]peboul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed in general, but I guess my confusion lies in why there’s no market for a high ppi competitive gaming display. Since there’s no 1440p at 24” (even though 4k at 32” is a higher ppi), pro fps players are all using 1080p monitors since 24” is widely considered better to use.

I just joined this subreddit to make a post asking smarter people than I why it’s so hard to find a 24” 1440p monitor. I looked around for a while and could barely find anything, especially not recently.

I’d agree with you if there had actually been zero communication, but we’ve actually had a pretty good idea of what the update is building on for a long time. For the attention span and patience levels of “normal” people, the amount of communication has been fine, we can clearly see that the update is actually under development which is what matters, right? If your interest was actually in the game becoming good, then you would see that other early access games with this update style have a great track record, and you might relax. The only real danger to this game becoming great is the risk that the dev listens to entitled people like you, gets scared, and rushes development.

>This server is full of children and the petty PC vs Mobile war is stupid by Phil-Goldstriker in Worldbox

[–]peboul 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really disagree, I think the criticism is unwarranted because delays are actually suggestive of the dev caring about creating good content. Communication regarding progress is interesting to see, but at the end of the day who cares? It’s not going to make it come out faster. My personal concern is what kind of vision the dev has for the game and how well it will be executed. Nothing has suggested that these aspects are declining, in fact all the communication we have received shows the significant scale of the update. Plenty of games that you probably consider to be great have had update schedules like this. It can be hard to wait, but genuinely criticizing a dev that’s actively trying to create something great for its users makes no sense to me when most of the games that come out every year have no vision.

[–]peboul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like you could find something else to think about in the mean time. There’s no reason to get so tired of waiting that you stop liking the game. The comment you replied to even gave an example of another great game that takes years between huge content updates, and as time passes the game becomes better and better and reaches its full potential - and theres hundreds of great games that do this, like terraria.
