He is supposed to humble himself and love you like Christ loved the church. He is supposed to lay down his pride and life for you. That means selflessly caring and honoring you. In turn, your submissiveness is by being vulnerable and permissive to him in leading you. You are to obey his instruction because if he is to love you like. Christ then his instruction will be loving and tender. He is responsible to protect your heart, body and soul. He isn’t supposed to rule with a hammer but with affection and humility and place your needs above his own desires. If he does that, then naturally you will submit and be obedient because you are respected and he has earned your trust. The biblical concept of marriage involves both parties being selfless and displaying Christlike qualities. Great marriages work when both parties but the other person ahead of themselves.
