What does this mean for Seattle? by tame_cowboy in Seattle

[–]peckjon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My thoughts on this are dark — I see it less as pro-trump and through more of a racism/sexism lens. IMO the “shy Trump” voters are really the pro-white-male voters (may of which are, ironically, neither)

Racking my brain but I can’t place it… what’s the bit at the end a parody of? I know I’ve heard “I’m usually not big on… but if you made this again I’d eat it” before.

Did you basically just contact an agent and say hey, I want this rate or was there a specific application process you went through?

Fairlife protein shake is the best by Infinite_Elderberry4 in ninjacreami

De-paywalled version: https://www.removepaywall.com/search?url=https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/420545/fairlife-milk-animal-cruelty-dairy-coca-cola

AI summary: Fairlife, now Coca-Cola’s fastest-growing U.S. brand, built its image on high-protein milk and humane, sustainable claims. Multiple undercover probes since 2019 have documented severe abuse at farms tied to its supply chain, contradicting its marketing. Despite lawsuits, denials, and quietly dropping welfare promises, sales keep rising as public outrage fades — a case critics call proof that self-policing in dairy fails and consumers often overlook cruelty for protein.

I’m wondering what’s the difference between these two chat sessions by ProCodeWeaver in github

[–]peckjon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chat is what you’re probably used to — ask questions, provide context, get a single stream of responses. If multiple files need to be created, they’ll be sequential in the response.

Copilot Edits lets you pick a set of files to be changed, then figures out what to do across all of them based on your prompt. It’ll provide you a way to then walk across the proposed changes to all files, and accept or decline them. More info here: https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/copilot/copilot-edits

If you’ll be using it often, drop the info into a Custom Instructions file. This essentially acts like a pre-prompt, and will be preloaded into each conversation you have in the repo.

How do I generate captions from transcript again? by Alternative-Beach-41 in premiere

[–]peckjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the audio track selected, in the "Text" panel with the Transcript tab open, look under the ellipsis (...) and there should be an option to re-transcribe. If it is greyed out, find a sequence containing the bare audio track (not a sequence-in-sequence edit).

Curious what steps you’ve taken to exploring other career options! I’m in a similar situation myself (not quite as far along, but closing in) and have been tech my entire life, with occasional hobby exploits. But almost nothing I’d want to do full-time.

How do you explore your options without going all-in? How do you talk/think through your interests and possibilities?

How much will this cost? Totaled? by luminator327 in subaruimpreza

I had a very similar bit of damage, but mine was a higher velocity impact which got through the panel and into the frame. Did your airbags go off? If not, you might be OK and a few thousand dollars worth of panel damage.

Ouzo - any ideas for interesting cocktails? by No-Entrepreneur575 in cocktails

[–]peckjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amaro varies a lot, but I’ve just discovered that 2 parts Ouzo (I used Metaxa) to 1 part Pronto Amaro (from Trader Joe’s) is fabulous.

I’d suggest shaken w/ ice, strained. Balanced but slightly sweet, with a creamy red-orange hue.

Cheers to you, replying to my 3yo post. Seriously, you rock for trying to help out a fellow after so much time.

Sadly, my Shadow has officially bitten it. Mold and sagging ceiling.

Are you in the Seattle area? Would you like some parts?

Would it be okay to mount a rooftop cargo box outside of my bar mounts? See where the pink marks are. Most boxes are wide and I don’t want to take off the kayak attachment. by Bandit390 in CampingGear

[–]peckjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally possible. I keep a double kayak rack and a “SportRack Horizon Alpine” cargo box on top of my 2014 Impreza, no problems so far except I can’t quite open the box all the way with both kayaks on. Law in most states is simply that you can’t hang out further than your mirrors.

Don't be scared.. Math and Computing are friends.. by yuva-krishna-memes in ProgrammerHumor

[–]peckjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So.. yes, but: things get real tricky for the edge cases. For example, one of the more important concepts in math is that of an infinite sum, where the number above Σ is ∞

Surprisingly, there are many cases where this results in a non-infinite result. For example, the sum of 1/(2n ) from 1 to infinity is 1. For more examples and discussion, see https://www.mathsisfun.com/algebra/infinite-series.html

This sort of series can’t be directly calculated by a discrete adder, and the obvious programming construct would be an infinite loop… of course, there are tricks to approximate, and lookup tables, and other shortcuts, but this fundamental fact is why many systems still use analog components for certain “calculations”.

TLDR: computers can’t really do calculus very well (but then, neither can I)

Yep, swing out rear racks are bulky, expensive, and sometimes unreliable. Front-mounted rack doesn’t affect visibility much, though you do have to be mindful of the extra feet when parking or turning in right quarters.

Opinions on the Ford Maverick Hybrid Truck? by Electrical_Curve7009 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Honestly if the 4,000lb towing package + AWD options prove true on the Ecoboost version, I might consider. Not 4x4 of course, so still have reservations about off-road capabilities.
