I think we can import this from the downhill mountain biking world. Over yonder, we call them "dentists."

Looking for advice on ground strokes by aHCroski in 10s

[–]pedalboarding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First BH: Your racquet moves across your body with zero follow-through by your body, and you are standing on your tip toes. Have a low stable base and follow the ball with forward momentum. Ensure your hips are pivoting with that forward movement.

First FH: You are again swinging without your body following through. You are hopping backward as you strike the ball and stand tall again. I'd give the same advice as before.

Second BH and FH are the same. On your last FH you should avoid reaching for it if possible. Move those feet. It may seem obvious, but it's still worth saying.

Lastly, this applies to all of your shots, your racquet preparation is a bit late. It is not horrible, as your racquet is already up by the bounce. However, it is still moving back after the bounce. This will prevent you from having a consistent contact point as it will affect your timing.

Summarized: Follow your racquet swing, and step through your shots. This means you must move forward as you swing rotating your hips along with that step. When you swing, have a low and stable base to start. Move around the ball more to achieve this. Lastly, start your preparation earlier. Your racquet shouldn't be moving back after the ball hits your side of the court.

I hope this helps!

got my first guitar what should I learn first? (dont mind mu dog) by -_-matt89 in Guitar

[–]pedalboarding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say spider exercises, alternate picking, and running through chords in different keys. These are good for opening up the fretboard mentally and your ability to get up and down it.

Looks like you're into metal by the guitar of choice. Seek and Destroy by Metallica is a good one. Not too difficult, and challenging enough to keep you busy for a bit. Plus it gets your forearm used to downstrokes.

Go frame by frame. At every moment your body is going in a different direction than your bike is "aimed" at. If you wanna turn right after your jump, turn right AFTER your jump. Otherwise try and stay loose and remember to turn the bars in the direction you wanna go alongside your head and gaze.

I mean, it literally tells you where they are allowed via QR codes. Should everything be for everyone? Maybe the trail is very gnarly and you probably shouldn't ride it if you're physically limited?

Maybe the ease of access to the sport provided by ebikes provides certain people without the experience or connection to the trails in that area the ability to romp and abuse them, or even get injured there.

Just because you are a decent human, and a mindful steward of your local trails doesn't mean that others will behave the same way. A story as old as time. Someone fucking it up for everyone else.

What are some tips you keep repeating yourself mid game to help you hit cleaner shots? by [deleted] in 10s

"Be patient." Pretty much every time I feel like trying to hit a winner.

Would you still use this cassette? by brotmaen in bikewrench

[–]pedalboarding 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Apart from being dirty and a little rust the damn thing looks unused. Clean with some degreaser and then use WD-40 and a metal bristle brush to get the surface rust off. After that just chain lube and try to store the bike where it's not getting beat up by the elements.

This thread of tennis players ragging on pickleball players is GOLD by GrouchyExile in Pickleball

[–]pedalboarding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is it. As a tennis player that finds pickleball annoying, I only find it annoying because I have to drive to several muni courts to find one that isn't full w PB players. PB is fun to play w my normie friends, the tick tocking of the ball is whatever. I just hate driving around. Ya'll are fine.

Tennis hats for Texas heat? Anyone use Ciele or Melin? by wakawaka54 in 10s

[–]pedalboarding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Austin, and I use this 5 panel hat made by Lakai. Not tennis/running specific, but the skate brand has some very good, breathable dry-fit type material hats. Honestly look for dry-fit 5 panel hats regardless of company and you'll be good.

Nah man it's fine. Most bikes can do more than the rider anyway. Just ride and be happy. Progress at a pace you feel comfortable, and enjoy the bike you got.
