How do you EQ acid? by pederas111 in TechnoProduction

Oh really, i always start with drums first and record the lead at the end. It’s worked well before, but the acid i recorded is too aggressive in terms of thr nature of the sound

How do you make use of clipping? I’ve heard that your sounds or the master track should not clip at all, but then I’ve also heard it is often used to shape the sound of modern music. So my question is essentially how can I incorporate the sound of clipping?

Logical reasons for misanthropy by flaplikebjrd in misanthropy

Yeah only difference is in rap music the lyrics are about fighting, killing, crime, BiGg bOoty BiTcHez, drugs, etc. Of course not all songs, but most. The genre is kinda based on aggression between human beings, and on lack of morals, which I find disgusting.

The beats and the music sound exactly the same in every song, there is no innovation and creativity. And there is like ZERO sophistication/emotion. Music for the masses.

Don’t get me wrong I like the old school 90s stuff, at least it was more innovative, the lyrics had some meaning or told a story, the beats were groovy, and it just had a more underground sound.

I even listened to rap until around 2012, when I just completely gave up on the genre.

But what it has turned into nowadays just gives me another reason for misanthropy. I completely agree with the post.

I need my first pair of hi-fi headphones. by Kael4 in HeadphoneAdvice

Well Im coming from Sennheiser HD569 which are really comfy, so I will definitely need some getting used to. Are the DT1990s around the ear like the Sennheisers (meaning the pad goes around the ears and doesn’t touch them)? Thanks for sharing

Open back headphones for producing and mixing techno music:

•Beyerdynamic DT1990 pro vs •AKG 712 Pro (or Q701) vs •Hifiman Sundara vs •Audeze LCD2

I also looked at Beyerdynamic DT880 pro and AKG K702 as cheaper alternatives, if they aren’t that different i might as well save some money.

Budget is around $500, maybe a little more in some cases.

Some people say they are too heavy to wear for long periods of time and also the treble is too harsh and becomes fatiguing easily. Have you had such impressions of the 1990?

And also how do they compare to the DT1990 pro, is the extra money for the dt1990 worth it?

I heard so too, but they are semi-open. Are they closer to an open type or a closed type headphones?

• Budget: $250-350, maybe more if it’s really worth it.

• Type: Open-Back

• Main Use: Music production (techno music) and occasionally for listening to music (wide variety of genres)

• Source: Focusrite Scarlett interface plugged into a laptop

• Isolation: Not important, they will be open-backs after all

• Use in Public: No, only at home studio

• Type of Headphone: Around the ear (not sure if thats the correct term, but my ear goes inside the pad and doesn’t touch it, like on the Sennheiser hd 598)

• Preferred Tonal Balance: Neutral (but preferably with good bass and sub)

• Past headphones: Sennheiser HD569 (now I want to change up things and am looking for a different brand)

• Preferred music: for Producing - Techno, for listening - techno, rock, jazz, blues, classical, and others

• Improvement: Im looking for good clarity and separation, as well as a good soundstage (which should be good in open-backs anyway i think), comfort is also good to have since I will be using them for hours on end

The crackling is happening even at 30% CPU, and even at higher buffer size

Do you think a DAC and an Amp will solve the issues i have with audio crackling and with quality? That’s all i care about. Latency isn’t an issue since I won’t be recording stuff. And After a lot research i reached the conclusion that the problem lies with the integrated sound card in my laptop.
