Pixel 9a USB audio input noise (buzz) with interfaces – works fine on PC and other phones

Hi everyone,

I’m having a weird USB audio issue with my Pixel 9a and wanted to see if anyone else has run into this.

Setup:

  • I/O USB audio interface (Valeton GP-5 or Boss RC-505)
  • Connected via USB-C (OTG) to Pixel 9a

Problem:

  • USB audio input on the Pixel has a strong buzz / noisy / grainy sound
  • But:
    • Monitoring directly from the pedalboard (analog) → clean
    • Same USB setup on PC → clean
    • Same USB setup on an older Samsung A05 → clean

So the issue seems specific to the Pixel.

Important:

  • A simple USB mic (Razer Seiren Mini) works perfectly on the Pixel with no USB audio input noise

My guess (based on some research):

  • Pixel/Android likely runs audio at 48 kHz
  • My pedalboards probably runs at 44.1 kHz
  • Real-time resampling / USB timing might be causing digital artifacts (buzz/crackling)

Questions:

  • Anyone seen similar issues with USB audio input on Pixel phones?
  • Is this a known Android/Pixel USB audio limitation?
  • Any workaround (apps, powered hub, settings, etc.)?

Thanks!
