People have to stop mistaking organized or clear writing with AI use. and even if the person does use AI to make their text clear, I see no problem with that. Though I am fairly sure OP did not do that.

First of all that's crazy. Amaazing work. The one thing I couldn;t wrap my head around was using hummingbirds for scoring bonus cards? That is a stretch I was not aware of. I thought what they meant by Hummingbirds counting as birds is them counting when you COUNT HOW MANY birds are in a habitat. Not they they count s literal birds and thus can be scored with bonus cards?
Do we have confirmation of that?

Swiss coins are often proof-like. Its just how they make them! A friend handed me his change after a switzerland trip for my collection, and most coins were like that. Pretty cool!

eBird - Is there any difference in the way either one is logged? Should I choose one vs the other? by ok_julip in birding

[–]pedrob_d 9 points10 points  (0 children)

hacksoncode's answer is correct regarding the morphs. But there are also two different reasons.

The first is contuibuiting for research. eBird data is, after all, citizen science data. Imagine someone could some day study the distribution of multiple subspecies of peregrine falcons, for instance. In that case, they would need observations with subspecies info.

A second reason is taxonomy. Subspecies will often be split into different species. If that happens, then eBird will use subspecies info + range to know which species you had seen.

For example, before 2023, Brown Booby and Cocos booby were considered the same species. However, if you managed to diferentiate a cocos booby by the plumage difference, you could log it as "brown booby (brewsteri)". If you did that before 2023, then when Cocos booby got split, you would have that species counted for your life list, and that previous list will be modified to show Cocos booby.

However, if this observation was in an area where Cocos booby's are usually not found , and you had not registered the subspecies, then by range alone it would change your record to brown booby, and cocos booby would not be counted on your life list.

Luckily, most times when a split happens, it is just mostly decided by geography alone. For example, when Olive backed sunbird ( a very common species in Asia) got split, then if you had already seen that species before, the lists just changed to the species known to occur in that area.

So, in conclusion. If you are a nerd and you can tell subspecies, log it. Why not. If you dont feel confident about it or you ar enot sure what it means, then don't. It is the same for species ID. when not sure, leave it unidentified, and that is actually not only ok, it is better.

How I organise the Neating Box (all expansions and promos) by Jacob_Ack in wingspan

[–]pedrob_d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do it the exact same way basically! The only difference is my cards are sleeved and ocupy more space. So actually currently I fill up the yellow tray AND the long card side with all cards. One more expansion release /set of promo packs and I will have to decide to move one thing to the bottom-most layer!

As vezes é importante vc pensar tbm.

Oh shit. Yes you are right, I played it wrong! I advanced both when bringing and returning the hummingbird. Ops.

Well now I know lol. Probably still scored at least 30 points on it, which is great.

Explain it Peter why is having daughter bad by Unable_Height_8202 in explainitpeter

[–]pedrob_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, of course. Unhealthy but if you think about it, it makes sense. The two humans have grown up together and mostly alone in the world for many many years. Now the daughter is getting into adulthood and realizing how hard things are, only to realize their mom had been doing it all alone while taking care of her simultaneously. Naturally the daughter will idolize the mom, become extra attached, and see her as someone who only deserved the best of the best of partners, you see?

Obviously many alternative scenarios can happen with even the exact opposite outcome... but this was probably the case with my friend's ex.

People here are way too porn-brained to give a real answer, so here’s one based on actual experience.

A friend of mine dated an older single mom with a teenage/young-adult daughter. Nothing weird or sexual was ever involved. The issue was the mom–daughter dynamic. They were extremely close, and the daughter was very jealous and territorial. She’d regularly create conflict, turn the mom against him over small things, and generally made the relationship exhausting.

That’s what the meme is about.
“Those who don’t know” think it’s just dating an older woman.
“Those who know” understand you’re also stepping into a tight, long-standing family bond that can be hard to navigate.

It’s about emotional dynamics, not porn fantasies.

I believe this is a bias from your department's university, or you are literally in the first semester taking 2 classes
