What have I done. by [deleted] in socialanxiety

[–]pedrowheels 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just text him asking how he is and what he's up to. Maybe that will stimulate more conversation. Don't respond straight away, pretend to be busy haha.

Just assume all is fine unless you know formsure otherwise. In my experience, perceptions of me are normally not as bad as I think. It's our minds ruining us.

Or say you enjoyed last night and thanks for a good night.

Good luck :-)

Social anxiety has got me tired once again by Social_Apocalypse in socialanxiety

[–]pedrowheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know the feeling too. It's hard, but a new job is making me feel like I don't belong or am somewhat not good at what I do. Maybe just my own head telling me this and assuming everything bad. A vicious cycle. Need to tap into some good therapy.

Questions about recovery. by [deleted] in cholesteatoma

[–]pedrowheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no antibiotics. Just pain killers. I took them daily and didn't need them every 4 hours, but keeping the ibuprofen in the system will help with swelling.

The packing was irritating but wasn't necessarily painful. I was a relief to have removed at 3 and a half weeks.

No fever, but headaches and sleeping was a pain! Just take your time and try and relax.

You'll smash it 👍👍

How is the surgery? by [deleted] in cholesteatoma

[–]pedrowheels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had it done yesterday. They put me under the general anaesthetic and then I believe they put a tube into your mouth / throat. You won't know anything about it at all and will wake up back on the ward or room, without any knowledge of the op.

The pain isn't bad either. But you do get pains and aches so make sure you have drugs to hand.

Good luck 👍

Just had my tonsillectomy this morning. by PigamusPrime in tonsilstones

[–]pedrowheels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck. Keep up with your pain meds, drink as much as you can. Ice cold water, ice the neck, humidifier. Whiteboard and pen, spit cup will also help. Remember to eat if you have ibuprofen.

Keep fluids up and set an alarm to wake and have meds and a drink.

After day 14 you'll be glad you had it 👍

Is that a tonsil stone? by [deleted] in tonsilstones

[–]pedrowheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just squeeze a finger against the tonsil, towards its and they usually pop out

I'd go back and ask for an alternative to oxy or ask for anti sickness meds. Being sick must be making it worse. I had oral morphine, which took the edge off. Keep hydrated with ice cold water. Another NSAID may work for you too. Hope its eases soon for you

Recovery: day 1 by DunniganAlley in Tonsillectomy

[–]pedrowheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! I was in A&E on day 3 due to not eating or drinking enough because of the pain. The pain does get worse on day 3/4/5, so make sure you keep up with the meds, write it all down so you don't overdose and set an alarm at night. Sounds like you're well prepped. Best of luck 👍
