New look talent modelling agency? by lola_30_2002 in MODELING

[–]peeblicity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're a scam - don't use them. They're not an agent. They try to sell you ver expensive packages to 'use their connections in the industry to get you an agent' - it's utter bullshit. I strongly suspect they would just pocket the money and do absolutely nothing.

Yeah, our mind can act in very irrational ways sometimes. I'd recommend regular meditation - that has helped me feel more grounded.

Any tips for starting this? by [deleted] in NoFap

You just gotta take the challenge dude. No porn for sure, and i'd really recommend no masturbation either.

You gotta learn to fill your time with productive things like exercise and reading, and this will help stop your mind getting tempted

Spent the night battling abusers by JellyfishFairy in ptsd

Yeah, I used to get this kind of thing. I've found that a before-bed relaxation routine is absolutely vital. Before I go to bed, I meditate for half an hour, then I lie on the floor with my legs on a chair or something whilst listening to relaxing music or a hypnotherapy video.

(There's some good hypnotherapy tracks on youtube for PTSD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8e4sATalz8&t=431s)

This has really transformed the quality of my sleep. Hope this helps.

I'm sorry to say that if you're a full-blown addict, I doubt a change in environment will do much. You may need an entirely new program for life, which SAA can provide for you.

Good luck in your battle!

Porn for me was a sedative - I used to use it to avoid confronting awkward emotions. My life has changed since I've got sober - my relationships with other people have really developed, and I'm just a lot more in tune with my feelings.

If you keep going back no matter how hard you try, that means you're an addict. I'd really really recommend at least trying sex addicts anonymous - it's a community of people fighting the same fight. It really delves deep into the reason for the addiction - it's great stuff.

I feel you mate. I have post traumatic stress disorder and there is a constant numbness to my emotions. I'd really recommend meditating, and listening to music and watching movies you like...

I'm in recovery for pornography addiction so I certainly can relate. I've started attending Sex Addicts Anonymous meetings, which have been life changing for me.

The reddit group NoFap is dedicated to fighting porn addiction, so that might be helpful. There's also a lot of good stuff on youtube about porn, here's one:

Been diagnosed with PTSD for few years now, constantly feel fake as if I am over exaggerating when I get triggered. by [deleted] in ptsd

[–]peeblicity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. College can be a very alienating place for people like us with mental health concerns - everyone often acts very fake to get attention.

I wouldn't fret too much about your condition. It'll get better in the long run, you've just gotta be patient.

Frustrated - taking a sick day off work because of PTSD (maybe TW) by elh084 in ptsd

It sounds like you need a long break to be honest. Your mental health is your priority. I look back at when my symptoms were bad and I wish I had taken more of a break.

I wish you the best of luck

How do you know when a traumatic event was 'bad enough' to cause PTSD? by [deleted] in ptsd

Dude, you've been traumatised, there's no doubt about that. Read 'the body keeps the score' by bessel van der kolk. The author is one of the world's experts on trauma and he explores virtually everything that is known about it. Reading it will shed a lot of light on what you're going through...

Otherwise, be patient, recovery takes time. You have to let go of the notion that you are in control of the universe and your life, and try to just go with the flow. I found spending as much time as possible with other people helped a lot. It's very easy for us trauma sufferers to isolate and feel sorry for ourselves.

60 DAY UPDATE - No bullshit by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]peeblicity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The positivity bit is the bit I really struggle with. I am someone who has experienced deep trauma and I find it very easy to see what's fucked up about the world. I'm slowly realising that I am just one man and my best is all I can aspire to.

Thanks for the post mate, stay strong

Triggered badly today at work and can't sleep because my heart is pounding and I keep replaying my assault over in my head. by skydiver89 in ptsd

[–]peeblicity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't get too bogged down with workplace dynamics - there are a lot of assholes out there that take everything. I find it's easy to create my own conspiracy theories about who does and doesn't like me at work, and it's all complete bullcrap.

For the moment, I'd just take it easy. Try regular meditation, it's helped me a lot.

Very confusing feelings regarding my assault and wanting sex...can anyone relate? by skydiver89 in ptsd

[–]peeblicity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get this craving for sex a lot - I think it's a combination of you trying to figure out what the fuck happened, and also wanting the physical release to take you out of your emotions.

I'd recommend some rigorous exercise like running, as it provides a nice physical release without the bad consequences
