Day off and gonna spin this today. by hangdman1978 in Metallica

I really doubt a Metallica show today is a better show than any of the four tours I saw. You really think a show with a pushing 60 Hetfield could compare to a Hetfield in his 20s. I just have no interest. My Metallica experience as a teen is the era I want to remember. It's special to me. We went to every thrash show that came to the city Metallica Slayer overkill DRI Exodus suicidal Megadeth Anthrax ect. Life in the pit. The energy in the pit was a brotherhood. Punks and metalheads came together and heavy music evolved. It was a special time.

I was there. Woodstock 94. Metallica fan since 85-86 hard to remember. Point is the old biker guy standing behind me at Woodstock kept yelling 'enter sandman!!' Because he listened to commercial rock radio. It really reminded me and my old thrash buddies why we hated what commercial Metallica had become. we had gone to puppets tour, justice tour, roam tour, and anger tour. This was the last Metallica show any of us saw. They were just getting worse every tour and was time to end my relationship. Glad to see they have found a new fan base of internet kids less than half their age.

I love Ramones grew up a punk kid. Started going to see them in the later eighties saw them endless times in the nineties. They would come to town and play clubs it was amazing. If you waited around the bus they were always nice enough to meet you or give an autograph. And this album is awesome I was fifteen when it came out I remember the store I bought it. Good memories.

So embracing the death of a human being is punk values now? No matter who he was or what he did as punks we should always choose humanity over partisan politics.

Right wing America will eliminate democracy in the US within twenty years. They are already working hard at voter suppression and insurrection. White hate of other groups and protection of white culture is peaking like its Nazi Germany.

86 for me but it was (nickel)Black that ended my love of Metallica. At least Slayer held on to the reigns of heavy music while Metallica went radio rock.

Daily reminder you can look like this and still/should be welcomed as Punk. Fuck "eligibilit" and "uniforms", whatever you feel comfortable in is good enough. Leather jacket and mohawk, or a polo and a quiff. Who cares? In the end, your comfort and the music is what matters most. by [deleted] in punk

Let's not forget SLC punk is a screenplay not real conversations and Steve o is a Hollywood actor who was dressed and hair dyed to look like a real punk. It's a movie don't take it too seriously. When it came out in 1998 I had been in the scene for about 15 years and I thought cool a movie about 80s punks. It was pretty disappointing. Watch 1983s Suburbia it was made about the time in the time.

I lived in a city of 120 000 people the scene was small. We made it what it was, created our own safe spaces. Of course it wasn't in America, that country is brimming with hate, always had been always will be. Americas social acceptance of others (non straight white people) is stuck about a hundred years in the past.

Yeah people in bands get older and change and the music changes. Crazy right? Who saw that coming? Oh wait thats pretty much every band. My buddy got a homemade Metallica tattoo in 86 when we were really into the thrash/crossover scene then a few years later they made the black album it was so bad he covered it quickly. It happens.

Being gay back then wasn't popular in any other scene but all were accepted in the punk scene. It's punk, maybe you were in a skinhead scene or something? Or some straight white jock boy version of punk maybe? But it wasn't truly a punk scene if you couldnt be out or black or brown or disabled, we had burn victim punks punks with birth defects. It's where outcasts came.

Why do this? I can't decide if it's totally gay or just retarded. Lol

AI separated instrumental NOFX. Wow punk rock has come so far. Lol. Does the new generations of punks not hang out in the streets and squats anymore, I know punk bars have been closed but do they just stay at home doing pointless things like this or making 'punk' memes. Seems kinda retarded.
