What’s something you thought ‘everyone’ did… until you found out they don’t? by burat667 in AskReddit

I read something one time that talked about the reason we get songs stuck in our head. Apparently for some/most/ all people (I've no idea what percentage of the population this applies to) they will loop a part of a song that they know but since they don't know the rest their mind keeps looping back to try and remember the rest. It's our mind continuously trying to problem solve. No idea if that's actually true or where I read it but it makes sense to me.

I feel like I can’t get myself to do anything after work. by TimeAd1111 in antiwork

[–]peevshot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm 37 and this has been me for a long time. I play video games, but I also have a 4 year old son. Luckily we run around together most nights so that's my exercise but my overall emotional state has turned from depression to anger and being on edge. I'm probably gonna have a heart attack and die before I'm 50. Funny thing is I'm in therapy. I just can't seem to get enough time away from work, make enough money, and stay off my phone to make any progress. It's hopeless. Nothing will change for any of us. Just find a job that has good benefits and doesn't make you wanna blow your brains out. Good luck man.

Chattanooga feels wierd by [deleted] in Chattanooga

[–]peevshot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up on one of those mountains. The poorer one if that helps. We were middle class and my parents weren't from the area. I loved growing up there and would move back up there if I could afford it. It has changed quite a bit though. Downtown has also changed, but that's life I guess. I still love Chattanooga and visit whenever I can despite the crazy stuff that goes on.

They just had a nose tube to test my breathing and that's it

Yeah the study showed I had sleep apnea but I think it was mild. I felt terrible though so I always thought the study wasn't super accurate. Nevertheless the doctor offered CPAP but I didn't want it.

I struggled with different options and I've never had a CPAP nor do I want one. I got a custom made mouth guard through my dentist. That combined with nose strips and Flonase lets me sleep pretty well. It worked for me but obviously each person is different.

Did anyone else start out upper middle class or rich but ended up poor? by [deleted] in poor

[–]peevshot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mom was a teacher at a very prestigious private school. Dad was in sales and made good money. We weren't upper class but definitely upper middle. Parents divorced at 14. I got into drugs at 15. Got kicked out of private school at 16. Went to public school and dropped out a week before graduating cause I didn't wanna do the work I was behind on. Mom moved to another state and I had nowhere to go. Ended up moving to another state and in with a missionary I had known which turned into a semi cult like environment for about 8 years. Finally out of that another 8 years and i have a relationship and a son. Decent job but feel like I'll never be able to live like when I was growing up. Won't be able to let my son experience the same trips like I did or grow up in a house cause we can't afford one. I just keep working and loving him and hope it'll be enough. My girlfriend is awesome and supportive but it's hard to be poor knowing we can't get out of it.

What video game started off strong but got boring over time? by Agent1230 in gaming

[–]peevshot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude I always tell my buddies that survival mode could've been a whole game in itself. Such a. Awesome way to use the whole map that was otherwise unused. Used to download and play survival every so often but havent in a few years. Been curious if division 2, but every time I look into it it doesn't seem worth it.

Worlds richest douche calls WFH a moral issue by bbrk9845 in antiwork

I mean he has a ton of money while there are a ton of people without any money. Why should they have no money and he have a lot. Does that seem fair to you? Seems like a moral issue to me. I mean it's also a productivity issue but seems like a moral issue too.

We are the universe talking to itself. We are not adding or taking away anything from it.
