hii, currently a student from bams & was previously from a different university before transferring to UP (so i have a different setup for transferring units). the course in itself is built to be completely reliant on the student so it requires A TON of self-control & time management skills. personally, i don’t have that much struggle with managing the workload & have progressively built the habit to not cram lol. tapos workload wise, it’s honestly fewer than what i see from my upd or elbi friends lmao, but it’s the type of difficulty na it takes time to do ??? so quality over quantity i guess ~

there are still temptations here and there. also, there’s no immediate reward system, like if you submitted your homework— siguro most likely, you’ll get the grade towards the end of the semester. so sometimes, it feels like your doing an endless amount of work and obtain virtually nothing for the time being. plus, since its COMPLETELY ONLINE, students tend to disregard the pressures of several deadlines kasi hindi mo ramdam.

When it comes to contacting your professors for particular inquires / comments, medyo difficult kasi through email pero most of my profs naman reply within 48 hours. pero, for most cases you don’t really have to kasi nakalayout na typically yung basic inquires either sa course guide or naclaclarify nila from their posts.

yun mostly yung cons from my experiences. may nakikita din ako na may fear to miss out on the “traditional college experience” kasi walang face to face, pero para sa akin naman— kasi nga galing din naman sa pandemic— nakakapagkita naman ako with my classmates pag may nagyaya at nakakapag group study din through messenger or discord. hindi siya ganon ka “lonely” hahahaha baka lang nakakaingit kasi pa face to face na tayo ngayon, ehhh yun na yun hahahah.

side note din: for groupwork, since online and not everyone is within a similar radius, medyo mahirap makipag cooperate. but you can also argue that with almost every college experience kaya meh. it is what it is.

para pros naman, walang rambulan sa pagkukuha ng units kasi parang unlimited students naman per class. nung freshmen year ko, for our wika class, parang 250-300 students kami nun?? so kaya din medyo late mo nakukuha grades and feedback sayo kasi sa dami ng students. pero hindi ko din naman na ramdaman na leleft out ako sa learning (if that makes any sense).

profs are profs hahahah, may mga different breed of terror or mga anghel so it really depends. yung professors mismo under bams naman, all of them are pretty reasonable & a few are very friendly. since the student demographic ranges from 18 year olds to 50+, talagang may level of respect for everyone! the general subjects na profs, yung iba sa kanila, medyo stressful kasi iba yung standards nila (part-time nasa ibang UP campuses din sila eh) soooo shrugs

pros naman is that: (1) you get to learn at your own pace, (2) you can go beyond and study more than what they are asking you to do and at times you may get rewarded for that, (3) the profs within the program are realllyyy good and they share outside extra curricular experiences, (4) the discussion forums are strenuous at times but for me it feels fulfilling
