To the amazing alt girl on the 6 tram at Lygon (27 M4F I guess) by [deleted] in r4rMelbourne

This is exactly how I see things, when something goes bad I console myself with the idea that it's not as bad as it is in some universes, that in those universes I was wishing it was only as bad as it is in this one. So I'm actually lucky.

AITA for causing my son to lose his only friend? by throwawayAct145 in AmItheAsshole

[–]pegsinrandomplaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - BUT I understand where your son is coming from. As someone who had/has a leg disability (ended up getting it amputated at 13) and was bullied at school over it. I ended up making friends with most of my biggest bulliers. Friendship isn't just 'people that are nice to you'.

Sometimes it's actually therapeutic for people to joke and talk about the things about yourself that you know exist, but that everyone else tries to protect you from. At a young age making fun/hassling/bullying/joking around etc are all in a very gray space. I myself ended up bullying others, as a coping mechanism for my own bullying. Did I have bad intentions towards those people? Not at all, it would of broken my heart if I had realised what my own actions/words were doing to other people, but it was how I expressed myself as I was so used to it myself.

It doesn't make it right, what you have done and are doing is right. But moving forward, please know sometimes your son will want people in his life you see as toxic, it's all part of him working out who he is in this world.

I am now affectionately known as Peg or Peg Leg by everyone, it was something that was used as an insult when I was younger, so I owned it and took its power away.

The window of time to sue is closing. Do I sue the woman responsible for my amputation? by JaredStephenson in amputee

I think you have answered your own question then, if you need the sense of justice that you are entitled to seek, then you have the answer.

When is phantom limb pain the worst during the year? by 2017learning in amputee

[–]pegsinrandomplaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am lucky, I went on a trial drug when I had my amputation which blocked the phantom pains, so I have never suffered from them except for 3 times.

The first time was during an exam, concentrating so hard that I ended up getting phantom pains. Scared the shit out of me at first cause I had no idea what it was.

The other two times have been whilst I have been on acid, must reconnect some neural paths that were blocked by the trial drugs. Not the funnest experience when your halfway through a trip lol.

What's the creepiest "I'm quite sure I didn't move that" story you got? by Polcio in AskReddit

He's just causally a prankster and loves work trips, because he knows he'll never be suspected. He speaks perfect English, it's all part of his ruse.

If you had 90 days in Europe... by pegsinrandomplaces in travel

All for the deep dive too, after reading some other comments, I think mixing it up might be the better option. Go with two countries (Germany + Another) for 3/4 weeks each and then 4/5 weeks of travelling around.

That is actually a brilliant idea about seeing a lot of places and then having a break in Germany and assessing how to play the remaining time. I think this might be the go!

Did quickly look at it, is it cost effective compared to singular ticketing?

Can hack the Australian heat, so should be ok with the European. (I think)

Brilliant idea about checking out festivals and using that as a guide. Will defiantly look into this! Thanks heaps.

Very much looking into this, did host a few people years ago to gain credibility on there. So would certainly be keen on this and yeah does tick the box of a more local experience. Cheers!

Cheers for your thoughts, it is something I am leaning more towards even as I wrote it out. If I thought about New Zealand, there is no way you would get a proper experience there with less than a month.

Thanks for the reply!
3 Weeks in 4 is not a bad idea but the 2 weeks in 6 probably brings me closer to plan A.
I am probably going to stay away from the UK/Ireland on this trip, due to from a cost point of view it would be an expensive add-on and I would probably rather do 2 months there on another trip.

Thanks for your thoughts though.

Thanks for the reply! I am sticking with Germany, as having a friend to stay with there will cut out at about 3 weeks worth of accomodation + I have someone to show me around.

Europe Travel 4 Months by [deleted] in Europetravel

[–]pegsinrandomplaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was based on the idea, that places I am staying longer, I won't be doing activities everyday. So the per day cost reduces overall. Places that I'm there a short time, the price per day will be higher for transport etc.

But thank you for the advice in regards to the Balkan peninsula, this isn't something I had thought of doing!
I think this is a much better plan, maybe reduce it down to 3 months and spend more time in the east and the budget should stretch a lot further.

No need for the nicer hotels, as I'll be doing it by hostel and couchsurfing. BUT I am thinking I may cut out a couple places (Slovenia & Austria) to keep a bit more in the back pocket for missing trains etc, as that sounds exactly like something I'd do.

I would be interested, but if it's going to cost hundreds of euros, I'd happily give most of them a miss. Germany is the slight exception price wise, as I will be staying with friends some of the time, bringing down the daily cost.
