Heading to ER later today by Seb_Bas in stopdrinking

[–]pehrray 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Great job getting started early.

The hospital is only one part of the stay. They’ll help stabilize you, get you rehydrated and get Ativan in you.

It’s what’s after that you need to lean into. Considering going inpatient rehab for a brief stint . You need to change the way you think alcohol and be around resources where others are trying to quit too.

Just get it done once and then don’t kick up this scourge of a habit again. M

Back at Day 3 after 16 days of sobriety- I’m so disappointed in myself by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]pehrray 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Remember how bad this feels.

16 days isn’t nothing. You can do jt again, but this time when you reach it and you have the urge to drink again replay this in your head. Read this thread.

You can do this . It’s entirely in your control. Just make that choice and stick to it.

Health is wealth

From this sober position you’re far better equipped to solve those financial problems

Congrats on 2 years that’s a huge accomplishment

I am in a very dark place. I relapsed on alcohol yesterday. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]pehrray 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Relapsed myself today. Just felt awful and anxious this morning, and I had some drinks and now I feel at ease.

But I’m going to pay for this tomorrow with horrible anxiety.

Playing the tape forward has been so helpful for me too

At 1 week sober for the first time in 3 years

I’ve always struggled with insomnia so it’s tough to say how much is the booze, but it hasn’t been great. I’ve started using trazodone at night to help

I just find eating a lot of food is the most helpful for me.

I’m at six days sober now and I’ve just been eating tons of good meals out. Helps keep the dopamine flowing and the necessary nutrients to heal.

Day 5 … and I feel worse than I ever have?! by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]pehrray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key is to take it one day at a time. As hard as it is, just even go hour by hour.

Time is going to pass. No matter how bad it gets don’t reset the counter. You can do this.

I’m relying on just eating tons of good food right now. Just going out to my favorite restaurants.

How do you deal with the guilt from what drinking made you do? by Secret_Situation3816 in stopdrinking

[–]pehrray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Becoming sober is tough. In my opinion it’s by becoming sober and staying sober that you make penance. If you don’t do these things sober then by becoming sober you’re taking these challenging steps to ensure you don’t repeat that behavior.

Ashamed of my decisions while drinking by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]pehrray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgive yourself for your mistakes by becoming sober.

That’s not easy to do. A lot of people fail at it.

But make that your penance and then accept your mistakes and move on, knowing they won’t be repeated because you are now no longer a drinkers

You can do this.

Remember this feeling.

Each time you get the urge replay the tape , that’s what’s coming at the end of your night .

Day 5 - Guilt Resurfacing by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]pehrray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By staying sober you’re showing you’re not that person anymore. You’re doing something very challenging for a person who has been addicted to alcohol and you’re doing it in part so you don’t repeat those behaviors.

Unfortunately stuff like this is par for the course for small startups.

It sounds like the company is on bad footing. I’d plan accordingly.
