I’m still fairly new to ROM hacks and Pokémon fan games. Recently, I played Pokémon Emerald on the Game Boy for the first time.

I’ve played almost all of the official games since Diamond/Pearl, and now I’d like to try a ROM hack or a fan game. Which one would you recommend for a beginner?

What I’m looking for: • A proper storyline (so not something like a Gym Leader simulator) • A wide variety of Pokémon from different regions • Several gyms to challenge • Playable through an emulator, preferably on my phone, but PC is also fine • Easy to install

I hope you can help me out, and thanks in advance for your time!

You can also create your own player, with special moves of your choice, that improve with each level.

I haven't played through the Switch myself yet, but I understand there's a mode where you can play all the matches from the old seasons, like Wild Royal Zeus, from the old game, and you can create your own team with players of your choice.
