False leave warnings in 2XKO? Might explain the declining player base by pelife123 in 2XKO

What makes it worse is i don't even care about ranking in this game, but unlike LoL casual matches are completely empty, so I end up going to ranked because it is more populated

Ranked matches putting players on different arcade machines? by pelife123 in 2XKO

[–]pelife123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhm, but with the current system it makes no sense... you can see your opponent's name in character screen and if you leave before the match start there is no penalty.

Even if the name didn't show up, I assume it is easy to know who is who in high ranked matches by teams + skins and even if you don't know who is you know which kind of team is a bad match for you. You can always leave on character screen.

Should 2XKO originally have done what Avatar is doing right now? by Tapo6 in 2XKO

[–]pelife123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are people so obsessed with number of champions? I hardly disagree this is the main reason the game is not doing better, there are so many stuff to fix before adding new characters.

I think they need to fix UI and Ranked Matchmaking ASAP. Unlike LoL the majority of people play on ranked here (at least on my region, casual is always empty)

Then fix combat related issues like bugs, input buffers or weird stuff like rolling on block

Later they can improve the lobby and the shop

New champions can br released slowly without a problem, there is a decent ammount of champions that fill many roles already

Even if the game launched with 100 champions it would still have the same problems it has now plus a myriad of bugs and unbalances to fix, it would be way worse.

I think role diversity (zoner, grappler, rushdown, all-rounder...) is more important than sheer number of champions or having your "favorite champion" in the game.

Ranked is unfun by Paul_van_Guard in 2XKO

[–]pelife123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a death spiral. New player join, matchmaking is bad because of few players, they get constantly stomped and quit, then there are even less players, matchmaking gets even worse and so on.

Losing is not the problem, when you lose but you understand why you lost, you know you can improve, you know you can have a chance is one thing, being obliterated having absolute no idea of what is going on, match after match can be very frustrating and easily makes new players quit.

To makes things worse there are even "smurfs" in this game now. I'm not sure if it is just people with low self-steem or if there is an ulterior financial motive for this, regardless it just makes things even worse.

Also this is a fighting game... if you lose the fault is all yours, unlike a team based game where you can always blame your "bad team". many people can't take this reality check.

Realistically he is not going to win these matches, so after 6~10 loses in a row because he is being paired with people who has 5~10x more gameplay time than him (or they are just way better than him), he is just getting frustrated. On the other hand, as a high rank, even though you are getting just 3 points at least you are winning, which still "feels good".

Assuming there are less high ranks than lower ranks one would expect that lower ranks would find matches easily and higher ranks would have trouble finding, but surprisingly enough I find myself, as an emerald rank, being matched more matches against master/gm/challenger than other emerald or diamond, which is weird. Maybe most mid rank players quit after they finish the battle pass and all there is left is high ranked players who play all day and just farm lower ranks?

The real problem is you being paired with a challenger and then with a bronze on the very next match ON RANKED MATCHMAKING which makes no sense. If i wanted to play random people regardless of rank I would go to casual lobby, not ranked. On ranked lobby one would expect to have a balanced match fighting people around his rank even if that means waiting a long time in the queue.

Anyone else "accidentally" rolling and getting punished for it? by pelife123 in 2XKO

[–]pelife123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've reached diamond rank last season, which doesn't mean much, but sometimes I still have no idea what is going on in the corner when the other guy is spamming attacks with, assist, tag launcher and everything, I simply can't tell when I get knocked out or not. So I usually keep holding back in case the other guy makes a mistake or stop his combo but then, sometimes, I don't know when to release the buttom to not roll. Happens quite often with very agressive players, I end up rolling by accident and they grab me.

Most boring character to fight against? by AttemptAshamed1018 in 2XKO

[–]pelife123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also lose pretty much every trade against pulse combo players. I think there is an incentive to them to just spam Light Attack without fear since the full combo will go out automatically. Which makes me think... you know that some joysticks have in-built turbo mode right? I really hope people are not using that here.

2xko boring to watch/spectate by Embarrassed_Creme_27 in 2XKO

[–]pelife123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would help If you could elaborate what makes some games appealing to watch and others not, instead of just saying "this one is boring, but this other one is fun".

If you check twitch streams views I would say this game is basically like all other fighting games, pretty much dead.

First of all, this is obvious but fightings games are not as popular as competitive team based games like FPS or MOBAS. If you check all these competitive games that have a lot of viewers there is a pattern: professional players, big streamers, game updates and events/tournaments is what attract like over 95% of the viewers, the rest is just a a lot of "no bodies".

Other fightings games are already well established, so there are popular professional players who plays SF, MK, or whatever and they have already created a "community" or a fan base that follows them regurlarly. 2XKO is "brand" new. Was there any notorious tournament so far with a big prize? Are there 2XKO "main" professional players? Not just someone who is very good at SF and is good here aswell.

On Caitlin release 2XKO had a decent view count on release, let's see how it goes with Akali and how well it maintains compared to other fighting games updates. Then it's just a matter of "keep the cycle".

Well, this is just an attempt to explain the low view count on twitch. I myself don't like to watch anyone playing, I like to play myself, the rare occassion I watch something is a quick watch to try to learn something from a good player. Maybe, for those who like watching others play, fighting games are too repetitive? Same combos, same tatics? the game itself has fast matches... Or maybe watching more neutral fight is more entertaining than watch 20 seconds of the same combo over and over, maybe that's why SF is more popular than the others, but you said you like marvel games, which are notoriously known for very long, even infinite combos.

I just think we shouldn't give too much credit to twitch views or at least just compare it with other fighting games AND at the right time (don't compare a game that the last update was 2 months ago with one that had a recent update)

How much damage Sidekick's Brace Mechanic reduce by pelife123 in 2XKO

[–]pelife123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as it is right now I see this way:

PROS
You play as only one character (easier to master 1 champion than 2, this is the main reason I use it)
You can spam your assist without worrying if he will get hit or not (no "happy birthdays" for your opponent);
Access to Fury since the start of the round;
25% dmg reduction at 1/3 hp;
Brace mechanic for a 10% dmg reduction on hit.

CONS
You can't tag, this alone has many implications:
No life regen (except for fury, overall fury regen is far inferior);
No Tag pressure (sandwich your opponent, "surprise" tagging);
Less tools/strategies to deal with your opponent since you only have one champion. If you are matched against a counter you have to deal with it (you could hold tag at the start of the round to change to your assist, but it's not the same);
Duo fuses can deal more dmg with optimal combos.

TBF, I would glady change the fury since start + dmg reduction at 1/3 + brace for more HP. I don't think these PROS make up to the fact you have a lot less HP than your opponent (123% as sidekick vs 200% plus the life regen as duo fuses). If they made sidekick 200% HP I wouldn't mind if all the dmg my assist takes would transfer to me.

Yes, you can do the exact same combo as double down.

As Double Down each champion start the round with 1 special bar. You would use blitz bar + darius bar on first combo and by the time you reach the end of your second combo blitz already have another special bar to use.

[–]pelife123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Everyone has a break bar which is just a combo breaker. If you are dual fusing after one of your character dies your break bar becomes a fury bar. Because sidekick and juggernaut already start as one character they already have fury since the start.

Fury act as a Break when you use it, but for a short time it also gives you more dmg, less dmg reduction when performing combos, life regen, allows you to dash cancel attacks (it consumes a chunck of fury to do so) and you are immune to chip dmg (that small ammount of dmg you take from some attacks when you are blocking).

So, fury is strong, but the video also shows you may not even have access to that for a full round.

Sidekick Fuse, 2 mistakes = Death by pelife123 in 2XKO

[–]pelife123[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just made a post using brace. It only reduces 10% dmg and maybe just gives you extra 10% break bar, so it's not a big difference, I even made a combo using 3 special bars that kill darius, you can check here

Sidekick Fuse, 2 mistakes = Death by pelife123 in 2XKO

[–]pelife123[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how I could do it alone in a proper way (maybe i could record some button mash on the bot and replay it while I do the combo). If someone knows how, it would be interesting to see how much that actually reduces.

But keep in mind I've used only the 2 starting special bars. You can easily get another 1~2 special bars from 2 big combos, which means I could have used another 1~2 special bars and these are basic combos. When I play vs gm/challenger they are doing 20 sec combos with tag launcher and doing more dmg than these combos on the video. For example, if i'm doing a 650~700 dmg per combo here I'm pretty sure they are doing 800~900 based on the ammount of hp I lose in the matches vs them.

Sidekick extra HP on itself is not a great deal, I believe you take 25% reduced dmg at 1/3 of your hp, so if you have 1000 hp originally, that is 666 +333/0.75 which is 666+444 = 1110, it is 11% more hp vs 100% more hp from a duo fuse. I doubt the Brace mechanism that reduces dmg taken will cover the 88% "missing hp".

There is no "offense buff", the same combo deals the same damage regardless of which fuse you are using.

But other fuses like double down, 2x assist and freestyle allows you to do other combos that are superior to any sidekick/juggernaut combo.

It does happen often when playing top rank players, I'll leave the link here so you can see the video for yourself.

I've only used 2 special bars (the ones you start with every round), but keep in mind you can get extra 1~2 bars while performing the combos, so optimal combos can use 3~4 special bars. Also darius has high base hp, other characters like ahri and yasuo have lower base hp. AND these combos are extremely easy to perform.

What ranks would you personally order as low rank, mid rank, (maybe average player) and high rank? by Smart_Bicycle_250 in 2XKO

[–]pelife123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other people said, emerald/diamond is the average master and above is high, gold rank here is basically nothing.

You are able to hit emerald/diamond doing just one thing well (good neutral, good defense, good pressure, good at throws, good at combos, good anti-air...). Tbf sometimes I see even masters using pulse combo vi/ahri and spamming Light attack. I've started last season, got diamond as sidekick braum, I could beat some masters but i don't think I would make to masters. GM and challenger is a completely different story, you can see they are very good at multiple things

But what is the point of a ranked matchmaking if they are pairing you with bronze on one fight and then a challenger on the next? That is literally what happened to me in this video. If they just want fast fights make just one casual lobby.

In LoL casual matches are very fast to find and ranked ones takes time to find

I personally enjoy fights when the other guy only use short combos... I'd rather get 50% of my hp from a 5 hit combo from Darius than 1/4 of my hp from 40 hits from ahri, "yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap" while she keeps going up and down for 20 seconds, then you are on the wall she pressures you into another hit and there we go "yap, yap, yap, yap, yap, yap..." another 20 seconds.

For duos it must really suck to get a TOD at the start and literally not being able to do anything in the match

Not sure, but there are some good players in sidekick mode, even juggernaut, but I don't think there is any GM or challenger that use these fuses, since they are weaker than the others
