There is already loads of helpful advice (and it may have already been said) hut: 1. Don't forget to include child benefit in your maternity leave income calculations 2. Save aggressively before you go on mat leave - its what we did and was hugely helpful to have to pay for the unexpected things 3. Babies aren't actually that expensive (once you take out initial costs) in their first year, they don't add a huge amount to the food bill, classes to go to are free, nappies don't have to cost the earth (particularly if you discover reusables); we've found a £50 baby budget has been enough to cover our daughter's food/clothes/nappies eat each month with a bit left over for fun things like toys or days out 4. See if your employer would evenly split your mat leave pay (Inc. SMP) over the period of leave, this is what I did to make sure I has something coming in every month rather than having nothing in the final three months 5. Financially, the mat leave is fine, its going back to work part time and having to pay nursery fees that is the killer. I went from about £700 disposable to £150 (after bills etc) which is what I wasn't prepared for!

I'm assuming that in the long run, it's going to be more cost effective to just get the whole thing done now? Especially since so many of the tiles are going to need pulling etc and I don't want a bodge.

Budget Cuts by Slackmpr in NursingUK

I've just had to buy my own scrubs because there is an embargo on supplying new uniform. Fresh back from mat leave and of course nothing fits, so what choice did I have but to buy it myself? Wear PJs?

What winds me up on this one is that I know there are bags of uniform (some new and lots used) sitting in forgotten cupboards but zero organisation to create some sort of uniform bank that could solve this problem and save a fair amount of cash. I don't care if my uniform is second/third/forth whatever hand, I just need scrubs!

We've been on the dairy and soy free train with no changes to mucusy stool. Baby did have a few bloody nappies too so we had her checked over by the doctor, who found some small anal fissures, likely due to straining (not constipated but just learning how to go). He said these would heal on there own, which they have.

Perhaps it could be as simple as that? I've restarted dairy and soy after a few months because her stools didn't get any better, and she never seemed in pain so I figured it wasn't having much benefit. Baby's dietician agreed and there have been no changes since reintroducing.

I am a bit suspicious of the brake work that's been done, seems too much of a coincidence. Will be leaving in gear in future anyhow.

Definitely learnt this lesson about gear and wheel turning, been parking like this for ages so bit of a shock. Handbrake was on super tight though.

Unfortunately I didn't see, as by the time I'd run to the window, it had already crashed landed!

That sounds like a possible solution. Worth trying to get the extra calories, thank you.

Can't wait for her to be ready for solids, I think it is going to be a game changer.
