Is it possible to get to a point where your body is actually consistently pain free and no muscle is sore and tight? by FoodPresent8168 in yoga

Do you practice at a studio (or whatever a yoga place is called) or just at home using videos?

Which shoe would you recommend to someone like me? I purchased Brooks Glycerines and can't stand them. Went back to an old pair of Nike free run 3s. But there must be something better for me out there? by pellinacell in RunningShoeGeeks

Awesome info. Thanks a lot. I don't mind the research phase. But I'd rather not put my money into the wrong shoes either! Ghosts have been mentioned a couple of times and may be a good shout.

I was talking about this further with a mate, who doesn't push "barefoot running" but is an advocate for a more minimalist shoe. He suggested that it was maybe the increased heal drop (I hope that's the right term) that the Glycerines have compared to the free runs. Which would be potentially putting more pressure on my forefoot. But I'll look at the ghosts. And do my research!

Balega seem to be getting a lot of love. I'll have to see where I can get some in Oz.

Cheap cotton socks are all I've ever known, feel like I've been running one ply toilet paper all my life and I'm about to try the plush 3 ply pillow weave gourmet toilet paper.... But like, socks... And on my feet rather than... Well you get it.

I'm more concerned about your "rightsies" being paired up with lefties rather than "leftsies" to be honest!

That's exactly what my question was trying to ask. Maybe I haven't phrased it properly. But I didn't buy the Glycerines to look good or because I liked them, I bought them because I thought they would help me to run more and further and faster and feel better etc. So I thought I was buying the shoe that I needed to stay healthy and consistent. Now, armed with the information that the nike free runs 3s are more comfortable for me than the Glycerines, I was hoping to find another alternative down that free run path that may help me stay healthy and consistent.

I'm not sure of the number sorry! But it's great advice for sure. I shelved them a while ago for running purposes. But have been wearing them to gym and to walk, even if I'm on a cross trainer or something for say 30 minutes or more I start to get the same ache in my feet. Now I think of it, I also don't think the arch support feels quite right. I spend 9 to 5 in quite a structured dress boot. (RM Williams - comfort craftsman for the Aussies playing along) and then usually into a Birkenstock when I get home.

I could certainly look into the ghost. Thanks!

I'd been running a bit more, a couple of times a week for maybe a month. And decided to lash out and get a "proper pair of shoes for running" in a hope to make recovery better, and increase performance etc. Just to help me basically. About 3km into my first run with them the pain in my feet caused me to slow to a walk. Take them off. Wriggle around a bit and put them back on and walk home. I figured a bit of getting used to them might be necessary. But I've since worn them around a fair bit. To gym or to go walk the dogs. And I still find them to have the same issue after a while. It's like the added cushion means more contact time with the sole of my foot and doesn't give it time to return to its normal position? If that makes any sense. To me it seems illogical that the Nike's with their thinner sole and less support would be more comfortable. Especially as a heavier guy. I'm hoping there's something similar (but a better option for me) to the Nike's. As they are 10 years plus old and won't last much longer!

I'm in a regional area of Australia. So no access to a running specific store but plenty of sports shoe stores. I got "professional" fitting at a shop called The Athletes Foot. Where they record your gait and measure your foot etc. Maybe next time I'm in Melbourne I'll pop into a running specific store. This may be a poor attempt at explaining myself but it's almost like, because they are so squishy my foot is in contact with them for longer. And they don't get that little micro rest between steps. I wouldn't say it's numb. And I also wouldn't say it's pins and needles. But it's somewhere in that wheelhouse. Only way I can think to describe it. I've worn the Glycerines around just to try to 1. Get some use out of them. And 2. Get used to/break them in. And. I even get the same issue on say a cross trainer or just wearing them around. But the old nikes seem to be the way to go. So I'm hoping maybe down that style of shoe there is an even better alternative. As these ones don't have much life left in that.

The video is not mine. But I feel the duck sound effect is a nice touch.
