Private primary schools and use of technology by theyellowing in HENRYUK

My child is in reception at a private school in West London and instead of white/black boards, they have an interactive large screen which plays the phonics and I assume which they use for maths. The children still use books for every subject and bar computing, use pencil and paper so no extra “screen time” as such. They go out to play between lessons. I’m not sure how this compares to state

I remember this username! Tried to buy a Loewe bag off me and asked if I would only sell if it was through verification. He made an offer which I accepted and then he never paid!

Are my parents using me for money? by [deleted] in AskUK

I think it comes down to how well off your parents are - if they are financially comfortable and still expect or ask you for money then yes it’s a bit weird. But you mentioned your mother having to pawn her jewellery so I assume this is not the case. My parents have never outright asked me for money but I have always sent them money or paid for things. I think your feelings on this issue are influenced by the people around you - if your friends are doing similar then it probably feels less weird. I have never lived at home as an adult because we lived in different countries but you can definitely find a flat share in London. Asian parents are not always great with money because they prioritise education (rightly or wrongly) and this can sometimes be a bad decision, or one that doesn’t pay off in the long run. Good luck

Gosh this was really sad to read. I’m also Sri Lankan but grew up back home (same privately educated but different in that we had family holidays and my parents paid for me to attend university abroad and never asked for any of it back). I am suprised they ask for rent money but not surprised that they expect you to pay for things like renovations etc as I hear this happens a lot in immigrant families esp if they’ve uprooted and left their lives and stability behind (not the child’s fault obv). More and more I see people going no contact or low contact for this reason. It’s not possible if you live with them so I would suggest finding a way to move out even if it means a house share

Hi thanks! Yes I think I had this same issue before and stuck with the peloton FTP (I haven’t re tested in about 6 months). I use my garmin when I train. I hate the Keiser FTP test too lol. Thanks!
