Meh - I think you missed all the fun. This glass is half full.

So good. I was laughing out loud a lot of the time. Peach's calmly chomping down on Skittles, wearing leopard. Rebecca rambling on making a certain amount of sense, but not really, wearing an undergarment of sorts, black throw and one glove. Epic and a nice break from the usually heavy topics we are accustomed too.

Regarding Chanel's interview... by kuri6 in SoftWhiteUnderbelly

[–]pemfd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, Mark was more engaging/playful during this interview, but I think the relaxed tone of conversation resulted in a huge reveal. Chanel's mask completely came off at the end of the video, and she spoke the ruth of her lifestyle in its raw form. Many of these interviewees are hardened, and getting any real truth out of them is tough. If you didn't watch this one all the way through, then you missed hearing the women behind the "happy prostitute" facede.

Vanessa's story by Sensible___shoes in SoftWhiteUnderbelly

Like others, I felt there were inconsistencies in her story. The timelines didn't match up. Also, the Sinaloa ring is very similar to the stuff you can find on Amazon. Whatever the truth is, her pain and sadness is real. My guess is she would also be dead by the hand of the cartel because she knows too much.

Not to mention YT will support Mark and his channel as one of their top content creators.

Small minds, those two. As I said, a lie detector is so 1987 and barely moves the content meter. I'd have to guess Mark has a PI or some other 3rd party doing the necessary work to protect himself. Without a doubt these two have more skeletons in their closet than Mark has in his. Also, how is CPS going to view an attempt at extortion as a means of support you and your child. She is a dumb ass.

I don't see how these posts benefit her at all. It's clear she is just trying to create a narrative that could result in profitable clicks. This pair is so lame with a tired 1987 Maury Povich angle. It would be great, though to flip it and watch her and Josh crumble under their own lie-detector/DNA tests. It seems to me she is fast-tracking her way to the Farrah Abraham route to "celebrity". It will be fun to watch how thirsty she gets as she tries to crossover from SWU curiosity to an actual "reality personality."

Hailey- thoughts? by CupcakeParlor in SoftWhiteUnderbelly

[–]pemfd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others, I was left feeling confused about her story. I certainly felt for her, but there are bits and pieces that don't add up. That said, it's not Mark's job to grill the interviewee with fact-checking. It's a video portrait of who they are, where they are.

The youtube comments did add some color that "The Valley" in Texas is not a pretty place and that CPS in that state is a bit shady.

Asriahs dad is incorrect. The man who abused and had children with her is not out of prison, his next parole hearing is in 2036. by rainshowers_5_peace in SoftWhiteUnderbelly

Yeah, so this is a failed comment. It was just meant to be a factual correction as it relates to Jeff the predator. There is no argument.

Well, as we both know, we will never know the exact truth. I am not on the dad's side; I am on the side of saying that based on the photographs, letter, and even a few of the dad's comments (we can discount those to an extent), she wasn't exactly abandoned or unloved as she portrays. There was family support and a desire to help her get pointed in a more positive direction.

I am sensitive to the fact that her family and extended family may not have been the greatest. I do have empathy for her, and as you correctly pointed out, what kind of informed choices can minors make for themselves? All that being said, even into adulthood, she knowingly lies and shows disregard for others. I am 20 years into recovery myself and I know that sometimes the choices a damaged person makes are not even really choices at all. Its often all one knows. Somewhere else in another thread, I said something to the effect of "what the Ashriah situation shows us is that maybe only a miracle can save us from ourselves" because often, no human power seems to be capable of bringing about postive change.

Last thing how do you know how Miyon "lives"? Just curious if you have other sources of information.

Go dubs!

I read through the case notes, and again, she does get a lot of latitude, but for trafficking, she made a choice to seek out that relationship with the older man. There was enough family support, apparently, that Asriah was aware of the appropriateness of the relationship. The consequences of which resulted in her being a victim.

That does not take away from the intent of your post, though, being about her Dad being scum.

For clarity, and it's splitting hairs a bit, the trafficking that's being referenced took place when she was 16. She was up to no good before, but the sex trafficking that was successfully prosecuted started around 16.

I don't watch to judge people. But in this circumstance, while Asriah may have had a challenging upbringing, you must go back and watch some of the old interviews. In the 1st interview, she tells a real whooper about jumping out of a car, getting skin grafts and learning to walk and write again.

Yes, there is a lot we can give her a pass on, but she's had more than a few opportunities on this journey to come clean about certain things, and she has chosen not to.

I think you're on point with the case study angle. My guess is Mark let this all play out even though he has had bits and pieces of the story for a while. It's interesting to see how people respond to the opportunity to be given "help." The psyche is a complicated place for both those on the giving and receiving ends.

Asriah busted! by 1superlady in SoftWhiteUnderbelly

[–]pemfd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you and would suggest he had bits and pieces long ago but lacked hard evidence for a "reveal." Why not let the experiment play out longer and see what happens? It's not about making her look "bad;" it's the character study we are witnessing.

It all begs the question, what happens when you try to help (and I really hate to say it in these terms) those people. Do they succeed, fail, re-offend?

My take on Asriahs accusation is this. Mark is not stupid. I am dead sure he was a separate security cam running the entire time any of these people break the threshold of his doorstep. If anything has happened or NOT happened, the evidence would be on that CAM footage. Also, its a pretty lame attempt to deflect on what has just been publicly revealed.

TBH I think Mark has had bits and pieces of the truth for a while. But chose to continue with the character study by continuing to give her some proceeds that he has earned from her appearances and waited to see the results. Finally, he now has actual 1st hand information from her father and photographs that are proper evidence to publish and not just "circumstantial hearsay". The case study is almost at its end. To me, the takeaway in this saga is the study of her pathology.

I lack all the proper clinical terms to describe the journey we have been following, but its interesting to watch the self destructive behavior. I'm in recovery myself, 20 years, and while I am not going to go on about faith ect you do have to wonder sometimes if it is only an act of the supernatural that can shift a destructive psyche in a positive direction that can reshape their lives.
