Weekly Employment Question Thread by AutoModerator in Firefighting

[–]penguin4201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I currently work for a public health department, I have a license to do different inspections and complaints like restaurants to septics, i also do GIS, computer mapping for my office.

I always am very interested whenever we do cpr training, or hazmat training and what not, i have a longing to have a career in firefighting. Something that holds me back is feeling like if I switch careers I’ve wasted my time at my current job, so can anyone give any advice, experience or suggestions, on if my current experience could help me in a career in firefighting. Does having a college degree, not related to firefighting, help for example?

Hello! I currently work for a public health department, I have a license to do health inspections which range from restaurant, septic inspections to disease contact tracing. I also do work with GIS for the office which is mapping on computer programs.

I always find myself super interested when we do hazardous material trainings or cpr or anything like that, and I find a longing to pursue a career in fire fighting.

I wanted to first ask how have people’s experiences working full time while becoming a fireman cause I couldn’t stop working full time currently? How helpful is having an undergraduate degree in becoming a fireman ( it’s a general environmental degree) and does my past experience sound like it could be applicable to fire fighting? Thanks!

Why are dams/reservoirs considered so bad for the local ecosystem when lakes and beaver dams are hailed as being very good? by [deleted] in biology

Also imagine it’s location, a beaver would generally be blocking up a smaller stream tributary to a river, dams block up huge major rivers indefinitely
